I know this is old news and the radiance display has been discontinued for a long time but I'm looking at getting a new HP Envy 14 1050CA online because of it's discounted price.
When did the HP Envy 14 1000 series stop being produced?
Did all HP Envy 14 1000 series come with the Radiance Display?
Did the series/model numbers change when they discontinued the radiance?
Thanks!
I just don't know if I want to take the gamble.

Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
I'm pretty sure the 1050CA was a 1366x768 Brightview, and a couple Google searches seem to think the same thing - one shop lists it as a 1600x900 Brightview screen (nonexistent) and the other lists it as a 1366x768 Brightview, the latter being HP's own site.
I'm pretty sure they did the minor refresh to the 11xx series sometime late in 2010, though the only changes I know of were a minor step-up in processor numbers (450 to 460, 720 to 740, etc) and the fact that the Radiance screen was pretty much gone like Donkey Kong by then. -
well, I sent ahead and ordered it. I found other threads here saying that the only screen that came with the 1st gen Canadian version 14- 1050CA is the radiance screen. fingers crossed...

The 14-1050CA comes with the standard, OR the radiance display. Silly that the same model number is used for both. My 14-1050CA does have radiance. The outside of the box will list the display resolution on both. From that you'll know which unit is inside. A buddies 14-1050CA came with the standard display. He ordered his online. I picked up mine at Bestbuy Canada.
Lets hope the one you get happens to be a radiance model.
Enjoy. -
Like you said, the box did have this labelled correctly...although I've read that even some boxes were marked with the standard resolution when in fact the laptop had the radiance. Two more left from where I got it. -
Means I'll get warranty coverage in Canada too should i need a replacement screen
