    Hi,
I have an annoying problem regarding the audio jack/speaker system. When I listen to music or watch a movie everything works perfekt. but when I want to play a game it kills the headphones and switches to speakers. And the crazy part is, it depends on the game i start. mass effect or dragon age work like a charm, bulletstorm not. I tried every option in the windows audio config as well as in the beats audio menu. Can anyone help?
    regards
    esperitox

Have you tried changing game audio settings?

I noticed the headphones/speakers start acting wonky when I have Steam running...

the independent headphones are the second headphones jack (rear jack) that is more of a combo jack for headphone and microphone.

it also has weird issues thanks to the IDT drivers. Either set the game to use the other speaker option or disable the independent headphones speaker.

either of those things should fix the problem.

I think the bigger issue might be that you use Second Life...

    :p

Yep I know how you feel. The funny thing is, the first two seconds after the game starts, it uses the headphones and then switches to speakers. I tested some other games and had the same results with gears of war and lara croft and the guardians of the light.

Thanks for the feedback. I tried many things. I killed the speakers, which killed the sound in the game. I killed the independent headphones and it still uses the speaker. I use only the headphone jack, when I put them in the second one (headset jack) headphones are dead. Is there a tools out there to force the damn audio system under my thumb and follow my command? That would be so nice for a change. I hate it when the damn computer has the upper hand.... :)

I also had this issue. I found that disabling the independent headphones in the audio panel did the trick.

Steam / Settings / Voice, probably, is your fix.

Ok now I see where I went wrong. It isn't enough to simply mute the independent headphones you have to deactivate them. Simple as that. Thank you all for your help!
