So basically I now have a laptop, HP Envy 14, running the i5 intel at 2.66, 8gb, ram and HD 5650 video card.

I have played games on this laptop such as Dead Space 2 and it ran very good without problems.

However, i recently started playing Crysis 2 and the laptop would go into hibernation by itself after 15 minutes.

So I used a spray can and sprayed out the fans and it crashes like 35 minutes later.

The GPU temps are reaching a scary 85C. Is this the culprit of the hibernation?

Is it safe to say my laptop is essentially never going to play Video Games, i am still on my warranty and am looking to get my $ back and build a desktop.

It shouldn't go into thermal protection at 85C. If you want to game then get a desktop, the performance to price is much better if you don't need the portability.

So is there any reason why my computer is hibernating itself when i am playing crysis 2? does this seem like a hardware issues or sofware issue?

just ran crysis 2, it hibernated again

the cpu core 0 was at 101 C
    core 2 was at 105C

    gpu was at 81c

are any of these numbers the culprit?

Hey i figured out it is the proccesor as a i ran a prime95 test that isolated the CPU temps and i saw them rise to 105 and crash immediatly.

Yeah, those CPU temps are shutdown levels. You might need to repaste your CPU, or open the computer up for a more thorough cleaning, or maybe just not play Crysis 2... that might be a bit much for a first-gen Envy 14...
