    Hey guys,

So I've had my Envy 14 for a bit now and it's overall been very good to me. I've been playing a number of games with good results, although the laptop does seem to run a bit hot.

Recently I started playing an old (within last 2 years) game that has a not-so-optimized engine (WAR). I always remember it running like crap even on a desktop, so didn't expect much anyway. I set it to high settings and native res and it runs great, smooth and silky. The problem is, though, after a little while it will get hotter and hotter and eventually my system will lock up (screen freeze, artifacts on screen, sound skipping). I've tried to see if this may be a driver issue, but I've run out of things to update :(

I started logging my GPU Temp to see what was going on. On other games (Such as BC2) I notice it go up to at most 80 C, but more often sitting in the 70s. Hot, but as far as I know, probably not extreme danger zone yet?

When I run WAR, however, I notice it creep up more and more, all the way to 87 or 88 before I end up freezing and need to restart. Is this in the "Danger zone" For a laptop GPU like the mobility 5650? I know on desktops you have more room and ventilation/cooling to work with, but this case is pretty slim and packed.

I do use a laptop cooler, but it isn't the best... getting another one soon, but in the interim I decided to see what you guys think: Does it seem like an overheating problem? That is, is 87 or 88 C enough to trigger the failsafe on the card?

Also, I tried hunting around for a means to modify the fan settings to run a bit higher (Speedfan, Riva Tuner), but these do not seem to be compatible with this graphics card (Riva in particular I Guess isn't meant for mobility solutions) . The overdrive program also seems to "Fail" whenever I Try to open it... what should I look for in terms of tools to utilize to change fan speeds? I tried going through the owner's lounge post... but couldn't find precisely what I needed.

Thanks for reading and sorry for any grammar missteps... I'm so tired trying to figure this one out.
