Amazon has the Envy 14 available for pre-order for $1,199.99, and it seems like a great deal, but Im concerned about the battery life. When looking at the specs it says that max battery is only 3.75 hours. From what I understand, the Envy 14 was stated to have up to 8 hours of battery life. I know with real time use, it will be slightly less, but i wouldn't think the number will drop to just 3 hours. Perhaps someone knows, or read something on how much battery the Envy 14 would get during real time use?

They said it had a 1300x768 screen, then when asked about it, they changed it to say 1600x900 instead, even though the spec sheet from HP shows that model with the 1300x768. Nobody knows for sure what screen it really has. They also say it has 3 DIMM of RAM when I know for a fact it has only 2 DIMM slot on the motherboard! Nobody knows yet what the real battery life is going to be, you have to wait till the 20th for reviews to come out.

Their product information does not match the "technical details." They still have the old screen info in prod. info.

I have no idea about the battery like, or anything else, that's listed on the amazon site.

Is "the 20th" an official release date for reviews or just a personal estimate?

Its been proven with HP that 20 days from release the reviews hit, so it could be round the 18th actually because it was released on June 27th. Reviewers have had the envy14 since may 5th or sooner, they aren't allowed to post the reviews yet. In some days from now though the first owners who live in Germany will get them, and can tell us how they are, they just today said that orders are shipping now!

If that is the battery life with the dedicated GPU on, that isn't very bad at all!

nobody knows if it is or isnt, i sent a email to one of the head honchos at HP today to see if he can sort it out once and for all, because none of the sales reps or support techs or even people at amazon know what the heck is going on.

Just to throw more fuel on the fire, note how the HP website mentions the Radiance screen is an optional feature.

One of the first envy owners just did a battery test, keep in mind playing movies is very intense.

His result shows it's got battery life typical of most laptops under the same test conditions. That also proves under normal uses like web surfing or with less screen brightness you will get a lot longer battery life than 3hrs.

Playing DVDs drains my laptop (FW490) in under an hour, so that seems very good (coming from my perspective).

So far it only appears to be around 4 hrs battery life. Also the math seems to support ~ 4hrs - 59wh/15 wats or so.

Wow  then the amazon configuration should be correct...and if that's right then envy14 isn't all that high end after all :(
