Hey guys. Today i received my envy 14 and was instantly enthralled by it's beauty. I played around with it and fell in love with it. But now I've hit a snagg that i cant deal with. while registering my laptop, I tried to remove my battery but found put i couldn't. the latch won't move all the way, but im not sure it's supposed to. Can someone help? The buffoons at tech support could even tell me if it was supposed to slide all the way. im attaching a pic now.

I don't think mine ever slid all the way, I think mine goes about that far and I push the cover out a bit and it gets popped out.

LOL! I had the same issue with my Envy 17. Turned out that I had my hand over the battery. You need to apply a bit more force on the latch. The latch actually pushes the battery up and out enough that you can then pull the battery out.

The latch is supposed to move all the way.

The first one I got (non-BCB, returned) had a hard time with that latch as well. My assumption is that it's simply not designed very well, so that a lot of them have snags or just don't slide very smoothly.

Is everyone talking about the same thing ? The battery cover or the battery itself ? I know my cover is a pain and I can't open it with just finger pressure as it don't slide far enough to get my fingertip in there to apply the needed amount. I took a flat screw driver and wrapped a lens cloth around it and pushed it with that and it popped open easily. It does slide most if not all the way to release.

    oh.

    be careful

someone else had this problem and BROKE their latch when forcing it too hard.

you might have a defective back cover or something.

Hey gang, shot a quick video on my phone to show how the battery latch opens. It's a bit shaky and blurry (sorry it's a camera phone) but you can get an idea of how much pressure I used to open it. . .hope this helps!

That was me lol. There was definitely something wrong with it. There was no way I had to use all my strength to open a latch and still can't open it.

My RMA is coming friday though :D Too bad I'm on vacation til the 9th so I have to wait until then to check it out.

I've noticed this when I come out of Hibernate. But I updated my BIOS to F.05a and the buttons work now.
