Last night I accidentally spilled salad dressing on my Envy 14 keyboard and now a bunch of the buttons barely work.

Anyone know how I can fix this without sending it in?

    well.

you can try taking the keyboard out of the envy 14. Then you can see if you can clean it that way.

push comes to shove you can pay $200 for a new keyboard or somehow talk the CR into cross shipping you a replacement keyboard.

    GL with that bit.

also big warning: The keyboard cable is very very easy to accidentally rip and then you're in bigger trouble. It also may be double-sided taped somewhere (something the maintenance guide doesn't mention).

Provided no dressing got in the computer, you could try taking out the keyboard and just soaking it in some (preferably distilled) water.

secondary note: Static discharge is bad and can kill things.

    make sure to ground yourself.

the screws inside the machine are completely stripped (I have never opened it before.. so dunno how)

anyway, the computer is under warranty (3 year) should I just send it back?

Well, you'd have to get rid of all evidence of salad dressing, and unless you open it up, you might have a meal in there that when HP opens it up, they will be like...whaaaaaaaat? I can imagine that might void your warranty.

So...I'd be very careful before sending that back to them without opening and cleaning it out. Think of your salad dressing like an aftermarket HDD or SSD. :p HP states to take it out before sending it back to them....I'd advise to get the salad dressing out before sending it back.

    Wait...

You can't even unscrew the bottom panel?

Wow. Looks like you need to send it back.

Read my above post. He may very well void his warranty if they find salad dressing in the Envy. :(
