I'd say within the last month of so, my envy has been running very hot. The right side on the body where the one exhaust fan is located will get really hot and the fan will be loud with a ton of air coming out. There will be times where CoreTemp shows around 60-70c. Before this period of time, this would only happen when doing intense stuff like Photoshop or gaming. Usually the temps are in the 40s or low 50. Also, I noticed when it runs hot like this that my battery life suffers too. I have the slice battery as well and this envy is one of the original HP Envys that came with the first gen I5s (Socket 1156).

Any ideas why this is happening or how I can fix it?

Check and make sure you do not have any background programs sucking resources, Make sure the vents are clear and the fans are running at speed.

Make sure if you have switchable graphics a driver update did not lock it in dedicated GPU mode.
