Hello all i just got my HP envy 14 in the other day and i got done installing Star Craft 2, but when i got to change the settings of the game it says that my graphics card isnt recognized....? Whats that all about because im havin gto run the game at medium settings and in 1200x768 for it to be playable Not something i like after spending what i did on this lap top.
Also every once in a while the wifi card on my computer will freak out and stop working and which kicks me from what i was doing and the only way to fix it is to restart the laptop.
Has anyone else been having this problem?

There are problems with ATI drivbrs for SC2. Supposedly ATI 10.8 fixes them though.

it works for me with latest drivers.

Running off stock drivers on my envy i do see the warning about my graphics card not being recognized the first time i started the game. I've ignored it and have not had any issues. You can upgrade your drivers if it bothers you but it hasn't been a problem for me. I've been able to run the game at 1600x900 at medium.
I've only experienced the wifi disconnect issue once and had to do a reboot. Since then I've done a clean install of windows pro since i upgraded to a SSD. You can try and see if there are updated drivers for your wireless card. -
I have the wifi disconnect problem even on a clean install with the newest drivers.

which wifi disconnect problem.
techncially there are two.
one: it disconnects randomly with no real reason. This is solved by newer wifi drivers and turning off speedboost (some linksys routers) and the like if your router supports it. It isn't always called speedboost.
it's a router thing and doesn't mean powerboost/whatever comcast does that gives you uncapped speed for like the first 15 seconds of a connection. It's speedboost or readyboost or whatever.
Disconnect issue 2: "I closed my laptop lid and then opened it back up and the connection wasn't working." This isn't something that can be fixed since the laptop lid is metal, the wireless antennae are in the lid (like to the left or right of the webcam or something, one or the other don't remember) and because of that closing the lid blocks signals getting to the antennae. -
Never heard of issue #2.
Also I have no control over wifi at school and I'm sure they don't use Linksys. (And what do you mean newer graphics solves it.) -
i had the wifi issue but installed the newest drivers on the intel website. If you try finding it through windows update it won't show up. Hp also doesnt have the latest drivers.

So I called HP tonight when I got home from college and talked to tech support and told him of my issues with the laptop and how the Wi-Fi kept turning off after (even after grabbing the latest drivers) how the ATI card isnt being recognized, I had the hard drive error and crash on day 2 of having the laptop which required me to restore it back to factory settings. He immediately said I should return the laptop for an exchange because these were serious hardware issues. So I got transferred to their returns center where the first lady was really nice but for all my trouble I was asking them if I could get an upgrade because I paid a lot of money and needed it for college, which started today, so she transferred me to her supervisor. This guy was the biggest a** h*** I have ever talked to in my life. He immediately asked me what was wrong with the laptop and I told him the issues I have been having with it and how I basically cant use it because of no Wi-Fi. He kept giving me sarcastic comments and got an attitude during the conversation. I asked for possible getting an upgrade to i7 which was only $100 more since I had the i5 520 in my laptop now and he laughed at me and said that wouldnt be possible and I asked for a ram upgrade then and again he said no and gave me some BS excuse that because it was a customized laptop that HP wont give me a upgrade for my troubles and their failure to provide me with what I paid for.
All in all i got my money back and will never buy HP again. I am truly disgusted by how they treat there customers. This "supervisor" was the rudest person i have ever talked to on the telephone in my life. He kept doing rapid sarcastic mmhmm's before i could finish my sentences and would had the worst attitude. I will never recommend a HP product to anyone nor will my work buy HP anymore. -
