I need a new laptop, and these are the two I'm looking at. They both come with an Xbox 360 Slim 4GB, which I might sell to make the cost of my laptop cheaper. (I look at it like a rebate.)
Amazon.com: HP Pavilion dv6-3163nr Entertainment Notebook PC - Silver: Computer & Accessories
-or-
Amazon.com: HP ENVY 14-1210NR 14.5-Inch Notebook PC (Silver): Computer & Accessories
I really want something for medium gaming, school and lots of interwebz browsin'.
I'm tied with both of these, because they each have their own pros and cons, and this is what I've come up with off the top of my head:
Envy 14:
+ Smaller, lighter.
+ More storage (750GB vs 500GB)
+ FOR SURE has a Backlit Keyboard
+ 6.5 hour Battery life
+ Beats Audio - Audio isn't a big deal, as long as it has speakers, I'm good.
- Not quad core
- only 4GB vs 6GB of RAM.
- Can't get a bigger battery
DV6-3163nr:
+ Quad core
+ 6GB of RAM
+ Can upgrade the battery (which is a huge possibly if i do get it)
+ Finger Print reader - not a must, just a cool feature I might find entertaining.
- Bigger, heavier, worried that the size might be too much for travel.
- Terrible Battery life: 3.25 hours. Need more than that. (might get a 9cell battery from ebay)
- Still not 100% sure it's backlit. I NEED something that is backlit. I work in the dark far too often not to have one. The Manufacture webpage says it is, but Amazon's page doesn't say anything about it.
PLEASE let me know what you think. I NEEEED feedback.
Thanks guys / gals! - Jessekin

if it was me i would take the envy 14.
i rather have the dualcore than the quad at those speeds. and i prefer smaller laptops. the move from 4gb to 6gb makes minimal difference. and since you need more battery life the envy is indefinitely better. -
Yeah, Hearing someone say what I was kind of thinking makes me feel better.
I didn't realize that the non-turbo speed was faster in the Envy than the DV6. I guess that makes simple things like opening a browser or quickly opening something Photoshop easier.
That and I guess I know FOR SURE that the Envy has a backlit keyboard.
Thank you so much for the feedback. -
I'm Really pushing toward the Envy 14. But I'm only got one thing stopping me from getting this in relation to other laptops: No sandy Bridge.
Is having a Sandy Bridge CPU REALLY that good? Will I notice the difference
between a sandy bridge vs a non sandy bridge cpu like the one i've linked?
