4. better sound
5. better webcam
The main thing for me is the 1600x900 radiance screen option. I also like the look of it, the better graphics and the option of a slice battery doesn't hurt.

Reasons why I want the Envy
#1: the size
#2: the screen
#3: the GPU
#4: the CPU -
#1 Screen (even though if the E15 offered a Radiance Screen I would probably change my mind)
#2 Package: I have been looking for the Macbook Clone in PC Land actually
#3 Power and Endurance: CPU, GPU
#4 Gimmicks like Webcam, Backlit Keyboard, Mini Displayport etc..
Lets see how I think when I get my machine in 11 Days.. -
-
-
How does switching from intergrated to the ATI one work exactly? Ive never done it on any of my crappy laptops in the past.

there's a button in the catalyst control center.
you hit the button and it swaps from integrated to discrete or back.
takes 'bout 5 or 10 seconds. -
1. close all programms (at least those using grafics/video functions)
2. Press Key combination
3. That's it, active GPU has changed -
Nevermind, I should have read a couple of pages back before I posted
-
thanks for the info. Part of me thought it was automatic.
-
Man that is so mess up, E14 has a slot drive and E15 does not
-
There is speculation that the 15 will get a new version but it hasn't been confirmed yet.
HP thought people could live with an external ODD when they released the first round of Envy's but apparently customer feedback said differently. -
I guess they needed vent space. but who knows maybe they worked on it. -
So now that the amazon specs popped up with the price, what do you guys think?
If you are not jumping on the Envy14 anymore, what do you think is the next best thing for the same or cheaper? -
-
Call me crazy, but the model on Amazon feels off. It's the same info as the US spec sheet that we all thought was wrong. some of the things still seem wrong (i5-450m, 3 DIMM but still "max 8gb", crazy low battery life all of a sudden).
I think I'm going to wait till the 27th before I believe that Amazon page. -
exactly what i was thinking.

huh.
looks like the drivers are up for the envy -
-
1. Smaller form factor (True 14" size.. Envy is big for 14.5")
2. Longer battery life
3. Weighs less
4. Costs less
They are built using similar materials... I wouldn't expect a jump in build quality. My Envy 15 is quite similar to the Dv6 in terms of materials and build quality. I think the Dv6 was more plastic-y, but in a good way, because the bottom got less hot. -
Interesting... There must be something this has that separates it from the dm4t.

the envy14?
well.
one: better vid card.
two: something 'bout a screen upgrade.
three: a slice I guess, I dunno. -
-
2. Build material? (magnesium+aluminum)
3. Better screen
4. Edge-to-edge glass
5. Slice option
6. Unibody -
I was playing with the envy 13 at fry's today these new clickpads seems kind of hard to use. The way I like to use touchpads is to have my index finger on the touchpad and my thumb on the button, so I do something similar with the clickpads where I have my index finger on the upper part and my thumb resting on the lower part.
On the mbp, when I have my finger and thumb on the clickpad, it knows to ignore any movement from my thumb since it knows my thumb is only there to click, and that im using my index finger to actually move the cursor.
However on the envy 13, both my index finger and thumb move the cursor, which becomes pretty frustrating since any slight movements from my thumb moves the cursor... anyone else share my opinion? -
-
-
but I've grown to love the touchpad on my late 900HA and am more efficient with tap-to-click (I stopped using the buttons after about a month)
I'm expecting the Envy'll have the same type of pad, I tried some 15/16" HP at costco and it had a similar synaptics pad -
EDIT:
NVM. Information's highly debatable. -
Slot load drive is something i don't care about half of the time we don't use it anyway, better for the larger machines, the thing is all i want with a envy 15 is a backlit keyboard and that's what i want!! Its sad they always want to be like Clevo and not have a backlit keyboard and then they put one on afterwords or release newer models, that is why i wait until a few months but this looks very promising and a lot better than vaio Z i hope, especially with the cooling and no overheating.

So is this the new owner's lounge, or just a replacement for the other thread?

I know I'll be buying as soon as it come out. My only worry is shipping delays since I have to have my computer in hand by the 16th of July or it will be too late for me.

I have an Iron Man in Coeur d'Alene the day it comes out. Talk about a hassle, I hope I don't get stuck in a crappy shipping order because I can't order it right away.

Let's see if we can get this thread up to about 300 pages before release. ;-)
-
Everyone get back in the Availabilty thread, this one isn't needed yet.
-
Okay so after a bit of research... I got a better way to say my point.
I highly doubt that the envy 14 clickpad is the new suite 3 synaptic clickpads.
(With palm sensing technology, and scrybe enabled features and etc.)
Can any current envy users testify that the clickpad is improved more via the hardware update (like suite 2 or suite 3 synaptic clickpads) or software? -
I think it might be a better idea for us to return to the other thread. This thread's redundant until actual Envy 14 owners get their hands on their notebooks.

So is it only 6 more days til this beast is released? And will i be able to buy it in any stores?
-
-
This thread wasnt meant to be an "owners thread" i wanted to just point out info thats in 300+ pages in the other thread, we can make it one if we want too though.
-
We need an "Envy 14 ordered" thread and "Envy 14 owner's thread" once they are actually available. Just let these ones burn themselves out.
-
-
Woh ! Another Envy14 thread ? Any more info in this thread ?
-
no more info ..summary on pg1 .. gud step to make another thread but should have done earlier with links to all utube videos available and complete info
-
Closed thread since the notebook has been released.
