Hello, I was wondering why there is no thread for this laptop in the forum. Looks like a very promising option with good customization, particulary the option to have a dedicated GPU (GeForce GT 740M). Right now it has a 20% off coupon active.

    4th generation Intel® Core™ i7-4500U Processor+ 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M Graphics
    14.0-inch diagonal HD+ Anti-glare LED-backlit Display Touchscreen (1600 x 900)
    4GB DDR3 System Memory (1Dimm)
    500GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
24GB flash Hard Drive Acceleration Cache
    No Additional Office Software
    Security Software Trial
    3 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
No Internal DVD or CD Drive
    Backlit Keyboard
HP TrueVision HD Webcam w/ integrated digital mic
    802.11 AC WLAN and Bluetooth® [2x2]

This configuration would be $884 before taxes, which seems like a pretty good deal for me. Of course, I would upgrade the RAM to 8gb with another memory stick, and some SSD down the road.

Has anyone bought this ultrabook??? Any reviews available??? I couldn't find any besides the ones in the HP website.
My main concern would have to be battery life. HP website quotes 8 hours but i would like to hear some real life experiences. I would also like to know about the screen technology, is it a TN panel or an IPS ?? I was hoping for a FHD display, but if the panel is IPS i could live with 1600x900. Also, does "anti-glare" mean it's a matte screen? or is it a glossy screen with some special treatment to reduce glare????

Anyway, I went too long with this post already, I would love to hear some opinions, specially if some of you have had this ultrabook.

    Greetings!!

There aren't many reviews of it. check this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-envy-hdx/723283-hp-envy-touchsmart-14-2013-a.html

The 1600x900 is TN and I would venture a guess the 1024x768 is too. There is no way I get 8 hrs out of the battery - mayyyybe 6 if I'm really just browsing on wifi and nothing else. Really more like 5. I have been waiting since november for them to ship me the 3200x1800 screen and they keep pushing me back - supposedly that screen IS IPS. Not sure about anti-glare, the glare on mine isn't bad but I wouldn't call it matte either.

    There is this option:

Buy HP ENVY TouchSmart 14-k110nr Sleekbook - Microsoft Store

I've been very tempted by that model but it doesn't seem to include the backlit keyboard.

Since they're all touchscreen none of them are going to be matte. They typically call them "anti-glare" when they have some sort of anti-glare coating on them.

k110nr is the only way to get the nicer screen afaik. I have tried everything to get HP to ship me the screen to no avail.
According to the manual it is a drop in fit to my k100 but have to have the part to drop-in!
unfortunate part is K110nr skimps in important specs like: lower CPU, no GFX chip, and no AC wireless. The HDDs and memory I dont care about since I add 16gb mem and 1TB HD + 256gb SSD anyway. But still. To not be able to customize a k100 with nice screen and maxxed out specs is basically stupid on HP part. :-\
