Well, mine finally left China and then Japan so should be in Alaska soon

 

not mine, doh! Though between 757pm and 953 pm it was "in transit" 4 times through shanghai. Pretty weird how they won't update at all, then in the span of 2 hours update every 30 minutes with useless babble then off the radar again. I used to enjoy fedex when they worked with newegg now they seem pretty mediocre. ups has been stellar for me though. Can't remember the last time they dropped off something late to my door.

 

Mine too! Hopefully, we'll get our Envy 15s early next week. Fingers crossed for no delays!

 

I think our laptops are chilling in the same crate or something, since I had "in transit" 4 times from 7:57 to 9:53 pm too :O

yup mine just left japan.. so its prob gonna hit Anchorage or memphis next depending on where they like to do customs.. at least for east coast items like mine

 

Oh well. Event's over. No MBP refresh. Bummer, was hoping to hear about one soon enough. Supposedly they refresh their line on average every 200 days and it's been 232 days.

I guess it'll happen outside the conference event.

Now when I customize it, ship date is Feb 24!!! I guess that will give me enough time to decide what laptop to buy after the reviews are in on Gen 2

 

At the moment, there aren't any. If any pop up, I'm sure there will be a post in this thread or the original Envy thread.

 

If it says Friday by noon (like mine does) then u should get it then.

its possible. but as for mine, since its not marked as a priority (2-day or less) they'll take their sweet time sorting it and if it doesn't make it on the plane to newark, NJ by tomorrow its prob not gonna make it on the truck for delivery on friday morning, but yea its still possible

 

damn. I was told 2nd day shipping by the CSR i'll see what they have to say friday afternoon. I could use some paper...

from the flight tracker, there were 2 Fedex Flights that left Osaka which is near the SENNAN-SHI, JP facility. One destined to Anchorage FDX64 and one For Memphis FDX80.

FDX64 arrives in Anchorage in about 1hr 30mins so thats probably the best time to check to see if your package comes in to the US via that route.

FDX80 arrives in Memphis in about 9hrs 30 mins so shortly after that the scan should show up..

My personal guess is that if I see an Anchorage scan on my package, I'll most likely see my Envy on Monday,

If I see a scan in Memphis tomorrow morning, I'd prob see my Envy on Friday.

and.. yea I think I'm a little paranoid and getting antsy waiting for this thing to show up... and I could be completely wrong too.

 

You've got problems when you start tracking the planes. Anyone have the cell phone for the pilot coming in to Memphis?

My order says it entered and left the fedex ramp in Japan. Does this mean my Envy 15 didn't leave Japan yet!?

I asked in the other thread but everyone seemed to get derailed over the over touted I-pad, LOL

Anyway I know the Envy comes with a web cam but what I want to know is does it have some sort of built in Mic or am I going to need to track down a specific type of Mic that works with the Audio jack? Mainly I was hoping when I'm in class I could on occasion record the Prof's lectures.

 

it means it left the JP facility and prob means it got on the plane. They don't scan it before it gets on the plane. so yea its in the air somewhere

 

in the specs it says "(includes Microphone)"

very seldom you find a notebook that has a webcam and no mic now-a-days

 

It has a mic on either side of the camera. It's not on the back of the lid as far as I know though, so you probably won't get great recording of the lecture while looking at the screen.

 

Then again, rarely do you find a notebook with all the plugs on the right side, and with a screen that doesn't open further than 120 degrees.

 

ah.. yea in this case then Envy 15 is definitely a leader in its own outcast class

it doesn't get charged to your account until it ships, and then after that it takes a few days before it shows up.. so after its charged the following billing cycle you will get a bill if its your first time with BML. if not you'll see it in your regular bill.

mine shipped monday, and I haven't seen a charge yet.

Why is a 3-4% improvement in Crisis a big deal? That seems like a standard deviation of error to me.

I agree. Crysis is, in no way, indicative of how the majority of games perform. On top of it all, it's a pretty mediocre game. It's got plenty of eye candy, but all it seems to be good for internet pissing contests.

 

I happen to, you know, actually like Crysis (and not for just the visuals)

 

Plus the Mobility HD 58xx's have diverged from the desktop HD58xx series more than the HD48xx versions... so the same optimizations may not benefit the 5830 on the Envy 15... anyways, unless you "mobility mod" the 10.1 drivers, they're not going to work with the Envy and even after that, since they are now "unsigned" no bluray or dvd playback will be permitted.
