Anxiously waiting for mine to arrive. Status is on the truck out for delivery.

I'll be following sleey0 lead but will install a second Win OS instead on a VHD for clean install.

My Win7 Fresh install is finished. All drivers in the SWSetup worked great.

Activated and Updated, time for some apps and customization!

Im very happy with this ENVY. No complaints.

Does it allow you to select what you're installing? If not, does it install more than just necessary drivers? Thanks

I can't wait until I get home...my Envy is waiting for me!

Could ya give us a short recap of exactly what you did to achieve your fresh install? Seems like backup SWsetup folder, reformat (whatd ya use?), Install Win7, install drivers from swsetup. Did I get that right? Mine should be here any minute.. =)

    PM55 for i5, I have F.18 as well.

Everything is snappy :) Did a fresh install (killed ALL partitions) and upgraded to Win 7 Pro free with a cert and key (slic 2.1 FTW)!

Overall great system thus far, except the keyboard.....

i still don't have my 820qm cpu, i will compare temps b/w that and my i5-520 this weekend i guess. i was saying earlier the i5 plays some games just fine on battery power even with the multiplier locked at x9. I was playing oblivion at full settings and at 1080p and was running b/w 30-45fps (except when there were 5-6 characters on screen at the same time, then it dipped into the 20s).

i dunno, i always plug it in to and from work. I still think 3 hours avg on low screen is avg. 2.45-3.15 i think. but i have the slice too, so now i have no idea. i'll let you guys do the battery test stuff.

Is that a newer BIOS than the one for the BEATS LE which has been removed from the HP store? I thought I read it was a F.17 BIOS.

When are these guys going to use UEFI instead? Oh well. Still tapping my fingers for mine.

Might go over to Frys and pickup a USB 3.0 enclosure since its on sale to checkout the SuperSpeed ports.

ugh the more I read about the multiplier issues, the more I'm thinking I might regret it. Was this information on the HP site at all when we ordered it, maybe with an asterisk or something next to the processor?

Hey, Don't know if you saw my post to you yesterday, it was crazy on here. Where did you get your replacement display (P/N?)? Also did you replace the whole assembly (LED, bracket etc) or just the lcd panel by itslef?

So I installed a new copy of windows 7, and then discovered that neither the ati or hp site had drivers for the usb 3.0 ports or the GPU. Anyone know where I can grab those?

screencountry.com, but they raised the price to $179. it came only with the panel, have to remove the lcd cable, and brackets and install them on the new one. be very, very careful removing the plastic bezel, its very flimsy, i can easily see someone (not me!) snapping it b/c its snapped on pretty darn well.

Wow. So I'm so impressed! I have been playing with my Envy 15 for about 15 mins. It's incredible! The multitouch functions are working perfectly. Just as good as the MBP (in Win7, OSX multitouch are superior/smoother because of the software being used) I have used for 3 weeks. I don't know if they updated the multitouch drivers, but they are very responsive and have been working every time I go to use two-finger scroll. I noticed that the left-click isn't working sometimes though, so I've been using the "Tap to click" functions. The keyboard is simply stunning (except that I misread where the edge of the keyboard is and I hit one button over with my left fingers because I'm not used to seeing that extra row of buttons on the left.

The screen is great to me with reasonable viewing angles. I'll post how it performs in COD:MW2 and Mass Effect 2 shortly.

Also, the speakers sound great, though I'm getting distortion at 100% volume. I'm playing music off pandora at 90% volume. (Distortion appears to be coming and going, and may be related to Pandora.com rather than the speakers).

So far it hasn't gotten warm at all (give it about another 30 mins and we'll see how warm it gets). It certainly is light.

my 1080p glossy is definitely an LG, i installed it myself, and it has a much better contrast ratio and less light bleeding than the low res screen. a worthwhile upgrade.

    I got the 1080p Anti-Glare. It's beautiful. :)

I got the i5-520. As best I can tell, the graphics are not switchable, but that's okay with me. I think I can still get enough battery life out of it. :)

I just played Mass Effect 2 with all settings maxed at 1080p. Everything was perfectly smooth. :)

The 540 gets mildly warm while doing minimal tasks.

I bet this thing will heat up once I throw some games at it, though ;)

Well I received my Envy this afternoon. The display is nice and bright but the Touchpad doesn't work right at all. It skips and doesn't track and had to break out the mice. I even updated the drivers to the latest but no help. Any suggestions I would appreciate. Keyboard layout is also will require some getting used to.

Now starting a Fresh Win 7 Install

Do not leave your thumb on the left or right buttons while touching the pad with your index finger... If you want to left click, tap or double tap the pad with your index finger where your cursor is (don't use the left button). Many PC users will have to retrain their brain to use this pad.
