19 seconds from power button to Ctrl-alt-del
I like! -
Anyone with an i5, what is the chipset?
-
Anxiously waiting for mine to arrive. Status is on the truck out for delivery.
I'll be following sleey0 lead but will install a second Win OS instead on a VHD for clean install. -
My Win7 Fresh install is finished. All drivers in the SWSetup worked great.
Activated and Updated, time for some apps and customization!
Im very happy with this ENVY. No complaints. -
I can't wait until I get home...my Envy is waiting for me! -
-
-
know you did. Was wonderring about the newly shipped units though.
-
PM55 for i5, I have F.18 as well.
Everything is snappyDid a fresh install (killed ALL partitions) and upgraded to Win 7 Pro free with a cert and key (slic 2.1 FTW)!
Overall great system thus far, except the keyboard..... -
THanx sleey. Can you post some benches and game runs with the fresh install.
-
I can do some vantage runs later, not sure if I'll have time to game on it until tonight.
-
i still don't have my 820qm cpu, i will compare temps b/w that and my i5-520 this weekend i guess. i was saying earlier the i5 plays some games just fine on battery power even with the multiplier locked at x9. I was playing oblivion at full settings and at 1080p and was running b/w 30-45fps (except when there were 5-6 characters on screen at the same time, then it dipped into the 20s).
-
coolest thing about my beats: the traktor software and dj adapter for audio output and monitoring. I'm going to have fun with this at my church later.
-
John what battery time are you getting on avg?
-
i dunno, i always plug it in to and from work. I still think 3 hours avg on low screen is avg. 2.45-3.15 i think. but i have the slice too, so now i have no idea. i'll let you guys do the battery test stuff.
-
i really want alien v predator on this thing, to see the dx11 stuff.
-
When are these guys going to use UEFI instead? Oh well. Still tapping my fingers for mine.
Might go over to Frys and pickup a USB 3.0 enclosure since its on sale to checkout the SuperSpeed ports. -
ugh the more I read about the multiplier issues, the more I'm thinking I might regret it. Was this information on the HP site at all when we ordered it, maybe with an asterisk or something next to the processor?
-
No pictures yet? I trying to decide between the Hp Envy 15 and Vaio F. Hows the heat issue?
-
i also have some diamond 7 compound to put on the cpu and may use some on the 5830 to help with heat
-
so the 5830 oced to 1000 on the memory? wow!
-
-
So I installed a new copy of windows 7, and then discovered that neither the ati or hp site had drivers for the usb 3.0 ports or the GPU. Anyone know where I can grab those?

Wow. So I'm so impressed! I have been playing with my Envy 15 for about 15 mins. It's incredible! The multitouch functions are working perfectly. Just as good as the MBP (in Win7, OSX multitouch are superior/smoother because of the software being used) I have used for 3 weeks. I don't know if they updated the multitouch drivers, but they are very responsive and have been working every time I go to use two-finger scroll. I noticed that the left-click isn't working sometimes though, so I've been using the "Tap to click" functions. The keyboard is simply stunning (except that I misread where the edge of the keyboard is and I hit one button over with my left fingers because I'm not used to seeing that extra row of buttons on the left.
The screen is great to me with reasonable viewing angles. I'll post how it performs in COD:MW2 and Mass Effect 2 shortly.
Also, the speakers sound great, though I'm getting distortion at 100% volume. I'm playing music off pandora at 90% volume. (Distortion appears to be coming and going, and may be related to Pandora.com rather than the speakers).
So far it hasn't gotten warm at all (give it about another 30 mins and we'll see how warm it gets). It certainly is light. -
What screen did you get, quadron?
-
got my $99 v13 vostro today, lets go tinyxp
-
my 1080p glossy is definitely an LG, i installed it myself, and it has a much better contrast ratio and less light bleeding than the low res screen. a worthwhile upgrade.

-
What cpu did u get? Are the graphics switchable?
-
-
-
-
I just played Mass Effect 2 with all settings maxed at 1080p. Everything was perfectly smooth. -
Exact cpu I am planning on getting. Interested to see how warm it gets with normal use.
-
The 540 gets mildly warm while doing minimal tasks.
I bet this thing will heat up once I throw some games at it, though -
I have verified that TRIM is indeed supported and functional after the raid is disabled.
Full support for Intel SSD Toolbox as well. -
So are the 2nd gen machines coming with Intel G2 ssd drives?
-
-
Didn't I read someone got Intel G2 drives in theirs?
-
-
Yes, the G2 is now standard SSD fare in the new Envy's...
-
Great news.
-
Does it have the latest firmware version already FW version 02HD?
-
-
Well I received my Envy this afternoon. The display is nice and bright but the Touchpad doesn't work right at all. It skips and doesn't track and had to break out the mice. I even updated the drivers to the latest but no help. Any suggestions I would appreciate. Keyboard layout is also will require some getting used to.
Now starting a Fresh Win 7 Install -
