HP Envy 15 - FedEx Shipping Question

My HP Envy 15 is now shipping, two days ahead of schedule. FedEx has early anticipation delivery as Friday, March 12, by 4:30pm. I was going to pay for the two-day delivery, but was talked out of it by the sales rep, because it wasn't scheduled to ship until Thursday, and it's business shipping only (meaning weekends are right out).

My warranty is arriving either today or tomorrow, also ahead of schedule.

I guess my question (and I may have already answered it), is...should I attempt to call to speed up delivery? How reliable is FedEx anticipated deliveries? I seem to remember, and I could very well be wrong on this, that with FedEx, you can adjust shipping on the fly (though that could be UPS).

Any advice is appreciated. I hope my excitement is obvious. ; )

Fedex is usually reliable.

 

Fedex is definitely reliable. Their ship dates are usually WAY ahead of schedule. I received mines 5 days ahead of schedule. And this isn't a fluke because I ordered a couple laptops from HP at different times. Don't worry. You'll get it very soon. =D

 

Hey, TC when was your original estimate build date? When did you order and the specs if you don't mind me asking.

I'm in a similar situation and really antsy about waiting (God been using a old clunker for 3 months now, stepping down from a quad core desktop, I was horrified by the performance gap)

If you are referring to me, my estimated build date/ship date was tomorrow (the 11th). The specs are:

i7-820QM
8GB RAM
5830 GPU
320 GB SSD (2 x 160)
anti-glare LED (I think)
Blu-Ray external

 

Well, my laptop is currently in transit, and is listed as being in Shanghai. I assume it is in flight on over. My expected delivery time has not changed. I find that interesting, that they still anticipate Friday afternoon.

 

My doubts were proved true. HP did not get the package to them in time...now looking at March 16th. Oh well.

 

call them and "persuade" them to compensate you for the delay. it has worked for me twice..

 

In truth, it's not really a delay. They were ahead of schedule. They weren't supposed to ship until tomorrow. Even with that, it's possible the machine will arrive on Monday.

Well...it will be early. But I doubt it will be this week.

It went from Shanghai to Anchorage, where it has been for a few hours. Unless it flies out tonight to Memphis or wherever, I wholeheartedly doubt it will make it here by Monday.

I'm actually kind of pissed, because I wanted to do the two-day shipping, which I stated in the original post. If I hadn't have allowed the rep to talk me out of it, the laptop would be here tomorrow, instead of five days from now.

Of course, that's a shallow complaint...but I'm choosing to live in the here and now. ; )

 

I wouldn't worry much. They got my first dm3t here pretty quick once it shipped.

 

Yours was two-day, it seems.

It'll get here when it gets here. I'm angry at myself for being talked out of it...it seems like whenever I change things up, the opposite happens and it blows up in my face (however small the blowup)...but such is life.

 

I didn't pay for 2 day though. It was the free shipping option.

I'm impressed with FedEx and HP
my HP had an estimated build date of March 10 and I had free 5-7 day shipping. They finished it on the 8th and even though FedEx had a delivery date on the 12th, it went from China to Kazakhstan to Memphis, TN in 1 day. on the 2nd day, it arrived in CA and in my hands.
However, sorry to be a pessimist, but I don't think you'll have the same luck. Seems like all the folks on the TM2 forum that had their units arrive in Anchorage, AK had delays with their delivery date. And when it arrives in Memphis, TN it seems to go back out within hours.

 

Hmmm.

It has left Anchorage. This leaves two questions:

1) Will it now go to Memphis? Or will it arrive in Hartford (where I live)?

2) What is the possibility of me being able to pick it up on Saturday?

I'm not expecting answers. Just optimistic about them. ; )

 

I doubt it'll go to Memphis at this point
However, I don't think they'll allow you to pick it up without them attempting at least 1 delivery
But keep an eye on the package, FedEx never updated the estimated delivery date (12th) but it was delivered on the 10th.

 

holy mine just got shipped tonight!! Just checked 2 minutes ago and it says it's shipped!!!

I ordered it on March 5, 2010. 6 Days including weekend is really really good. dell took 2 weeks to make my orders.

Congratulations on yours shipping. I think I bought mine on the 2nd, or the 4th. I can't remember. Mine began shipping on the 9th (hence the origin of this thread).

I'll be an impatient tomorrow, especially if it arrives in Hartford magically overnight. It's currently in transit somewhere...just don't know where.

Using flightaware.com, I believe my package is currently en route to Newark, where it will arrive at shortly before 1am EST (or at 1:55am EST...can't remember). So...hope's still alive! It's a glimmer, but it's still there!

Most likely, I will get it on Monday. But, just to try it, I have emailed FedEx International, to see if they can assist me (of course, it's probably now FedEx Ground or whatever...before, it was International). But, we'll find out in the morning.

mine magically went from TN (midnight) to CA (5:30am) in less than 6 hours.

 

Well....

It arrived in Newark overnight.

And it stayed in Newark...til about two hours ago...

...just after the time to delivery the thing.

I called about picking it up (there has to be an attempt to deliver it), and HP also won't allow for a Saturday delivery (because it was customized).

To that, I say....bah.

So...we're looking at Monday here. I doubt there's any way I can convince them to allow me to somehow get it on Saturday.

 

huh i thought the shipped over the weekend... like u see the package travel on weekends too

 

It's Business Day shipping.

It's sitting about 20 miles away right now, if that.

This is a microcosm of my life. Things happen just a little...just enough...to tick me off.

 

At least Fedex didn't tease you with the date. Mine said shipping date of 17th, then once I checked again a day later it went to 18th ;_;

 

Originally, FedEx had a date of the 12th (I believe I said that in this thread). Then it moved back to the 16th.

 

My Fedex originaly said 16, now it says 18th....dang it.

 

Sounds like all out Envys might have been in the same bulk. What gives?

Mine moved to the 18th too. I don't get why it didn't fly to Cali, then take a Cali to Tenn flight then up to PA. Most my order do that when they originate in China.

I guess they don't count weekends.

 

But it's been Monday there for almost 24hrs..might be Tuesday now.

 

Well they just updated the shipping info on mine (though I didn't get an envy 15; I got a dm3t). It's also scheduled to reach me by the 18th.

Maybe fedex doesn't update on weekends. You know how these American companies work. They're most likely in transit to the states already.

 

It's a website, it should be creating the update from the data created when the package is scanned in the system.

 

God damn I think you mitt be anxious to get the envy than me! And you've already got a nice laptop and a desktop! XD

 

I'm selling them to afford the ENVY. lol

But it just pisses me off when technology is not used as it should/can be.

Come on, no update for 3days? really? I know it's not due for another 3 days(and I'm fine with that), but least let me know whats going on, that's the whole point of this "user tracking" system.

According to FedEx as of this post it is.

 

It says "in transit" so hopefully the plane just make a quick stop or something. God I hope it didn't get stuck in customs or something. Its kind of troubling me that the site doesn't say arrival or departure regarding kz.....
