Starting today, my HP Envy 15's display seemed to have stopped working. I boot up the machine but the display remains black / "off." It was working just fine yesterday (obviously).

I connected it to an external display via the HDMI port and there is indeed video output. I reinstalled the graphics drivers but it didn't seem to help. I figured maybe it was a windows update that screwed something up, so I did a system restore to about a week ago to no avail. I'm not sure what else to try.

It's an HP Envy 15 which I bought last year (I believe ~April 2010). i5 430m, ATI Mobility 5830, 4GB, Glossy (1900x1080) screen. It's given me no problems whatsoever in the last year, so this really comes as a surprise to me.

I was hoping someone out there could help me diagnose whether it's a hardware or software problem (and possibly help me fix it if possible).

    Thanks!
