Now that hackintosh discussion is allowed on these forums, I figured out of every Windows laptop that the HP Envy would have the most users that were looking to add Mac OS to their system since the systems themselves come dangerously close to being Mac clones. Thus, there should be quite a few people on here that have at least attempted to install Mac OS onto their shiny HP Envy for a similar Mac experience at half the cost.

What was most alluring about the Envy 15 for me was the 1080p Radiance display since I am looking to purchase the system as an in-between laptop for until when the Retina MacBook Pro is more worthwhile (more app and web-site Retina compatibility).

If you have given Mac OS a shot on your recent HP Envy 15, or any Envy for that matter, share your experience below along with your system model number, Mac OS version, and any incompatibilities or idiosyncrasies you have run into. I am looking to run Mac OS as my primary operating system so fingers crossed for 99% compatibility (though if anything I should expect it to be closer to 75-80%) :).

I would also like to know this. I would like to try having a second drive to install OSX on for a while (souds like fun), but will have to wait until I have more time.

From what I read, with most laptops OSX can be buggy and updates can be a problem.

If the laptop has the right hardware though, it might work OK. I would guess the newer Mobile Radeon cards could cause trouble. I don't know about the chipset and such.

If the Envy's can work, it would be a really fun project.

You best bet for hackintosh is a system that has the exact same specs as a MacBook. The Samsung Series 7 15.6" is like a MacBook Pro 15 clone.
