Good question. They're claiming it'll be done by the 30th according to the delay email I got, but my actual order tracking hasn't been updated, so I need to call them. I'm just on the road this week so finding time is a little hard. It would have been REALLY nice to have had it shipped out a couple days ago because I'll be home next week, and then the two weeks after I'm going to be on the road, but I'll figure out something.

My status is the same, Delayed till 30th as per email but it still says estimated delivery 18th on the site.

I'm starting to loose interest in the envy if it doesn't come soon.. I'll give it through the weekend and see what happens on monday, otherwise I'll cancel.. its not that I'm inpatient but it was kind of a buzz-kill to say 18th ship, then 30th..

For the price, I'm still not anticipating changing. $1400 for a machine as insane as the Envy? Yeah, not gonna complain.

I played with the Sony F for about 10 mins at CES, it didnt compare in build quality/materials to my Envy15. The F isnt a bad laptop, but once you have that powerful little brick that is the envy in your hands... you can tell that the sony is a bloated plastic boat compared.

same here. cant beat the price and features of the envy. Its either an envy or a MBP and i will not get near the same specs at this price point with a MBP.

I am really getting sick of all the cheap plasticky looking laptops out there.

I went to a local Frys where they had both side by side, and I agree, you can't compare the two in build quality.

Just called HP and was told the same few others have reported. He said mine new target shipping date is 1/26. I told him the delay notice said 1/30. He said "his" system was telling him 1/26.

I asked to be upgraded to fedex 2 day shipping and he agreed.

ok...so I was lied to last night, order isn't cancelled just got offered 2 day shipping "if possible" >_<
supposedly going to shipped on the 26th and then he said he since it was delayed it will be upgraded to priority 2 day shipping, totally contradicting the previous statement of upgraded to 2 day shipping "if possible." Well whatever, it'll be a fun toy until the 8540 gets out.

folks, for those who have envys right now. I have this issue when the machine goes to sleep while on battery, screen open, lets say you have it running on battery and you step out for a while. When I come back the screen is black, power button light is ON, so I assume the machine has gone to sleep. However, I can't get it to wake up with anything, keyboard, touchpad, enter, nothing. Tried screen brightness setting, nothing. Close the screen, and re-open, nothing.

I have to hold power button to force shutdown and then reboot. I get the windows wasn't shutdown properly screen, I choose to start normally. After login to windows, I see the battery at %50, so that tells me the machine didn't run out of battery.

I can consistently reproduce this. It only happens when left idle for a while with the screen open. Right now I am just always closing the screen when stepping out.

Well since it turned out I can't get the LE now I called to try and see if they might upgrade the shipping to make up for all my hassles I've been through. The person I spoke with said they "can't" just upgrade shipping on a placed order. When I mentioned about ppl here being told it could be done she explained that, in the case where an order gets delayed because of part shortages etc, then shipping automatically will try to upgrade to 2 day to make up for things. Now unfortunately with CS at HP I am at the point where I don't really take anything they say as absolutely correct but it does sound at least plausible.

In my case I had an order for the LE but then CS/Resolutions dept convinced me to cancel the order and replace with a regular Envy 15 because of wanting USB 3.0. Then once ppl got some of the new build and it was confirmed that the LE did have it I called and worked with someone yesterday to re-establish my origonal order at its origonal price but, because of how my card had a 3K daily limit I had to call the bank this morning to get the limit lifted just for today so I could call back and process the order. Thats when the person working with me found the email from last night saying LE was dead as of midnight. That person was the one who suggested I try on the shipping deal.

Edit: The problem was he was going to get me the origonal price I had but was going to have to "backend" it. In otherwords charge me full price and then after the charge credit me back the difference.

yeah my rep did say i could buy a quick ship model but i'd be responsible for BML. If I still really wanted this laptop I would have pushed for some cash back but I just wanted to get an idea when it would ship and play with it then send it back. I'll be sure to get that 16gb usb flash drive for free before I send back my envy though.

I do smell some bullcrap having them tell me I can't cancel the machine when I got an email saying I could up until it ships. It'll be a fine day when the CSRs stop lying indeed.

They messed up my "re-order" and had to charge my card 2x (in addition to the original order). When I expressed concern over them mmaxing out my credit card and taking up 3 hrs of my time (every question asked requires 15 minute hold time), they asked me for my social security number so they could call Amex and straighten out the charges!?!?!

I am happy with the new "refresh". I am shocked the Beats is no longer available. With people returning their originals, what is HP doing with all the new Beats?

I hope they don't refresh for a 3rd time! At this rate it is once a month!

CS has definitly been a let down so far with HP. I pray actual TS is good in case I have any problems and that I get a problem free unit. I would of done the re-order last night but because of still waiting for credits from HP to show up at BML any attempt to replace an order was declined thus having to use my bank card

Be sure you are confident with your order when you place it, as getting something as simple as a 9 cell battery thrown in after the fact is a PITA! I called Home and Office who told me they cannot change an order once placed...who transferred me to parts, parts said they don’t carry parts for the new Envy (took me 10 minutes to explain what an Envy was, and had to spell it 5 times) and transferred me back to Home and Office. Home and Office gave me the same story again, but offered to place the order for the non bundled price of $169.

I complained stating it hadn't even shipped yet and they just needed to toss a frickin battery in the box. She repeated there was nothing she could do, so I asked to speak to her supervisor. 10 minutes later she came back and said they could sell it to me for 169, but credit me the difference later (okay now we are getting there) So, going forward with the order, she said it would cost 20 dollars shipping. I'm like ...20 bucks to ship a battery? Finally she offered me free shipping...why she thought I needed 2 day shipping for a notebook that won't be here for 3 more weeks... that's a mystery.

Then after the call was concluded I stayed on the line for the survey she asked me to take...after 2 minutes of awkwardly listening to background noise I informed her I was waiting on the survey...she kind of sheepishly laughed... and said she forgot. Then tried for 3 minutes to transfer me to the survey line by loudly dialing in my ear, before putting me on hold, to presumably ask her supervisor how to transfer me..

Would they credit you the entire battery price or just the difference between HHO and BTO?

I was really hoping to get a free extra battery out of the delay, or at least a free DVDRW or some money off. I will call them today, if only to make sure my shipping is updated.

I really want a smaller laptop, but I'm such a sucker for 1080p. I would never even consider something like the Sony F series.

You may want to wait until it ships. From your earlier description she said they would credit you later. They normally set it up to credit your account back once an item ships, so you may get your $39 + the $17. This happened to me twice, there was no acknowledgement of discount on confirmation but the credit show up a few days after shipment.

Hey guys, haven't been back here for a while but I was reading several pages back about how the IGP isn't supported on the chipset for the i5 configurations. If that's going to be the case I'd rather take the USB 3.0 support and go with the 720QM over the 540M on order now, but I'm not sure how that'd affect delaying my order if I asked for that upgrade now. I also got a 1/30 delay notification too. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Same decision here, and why I canceled my order (although I'm still waiting on the status online to confirm the cancellation). I didn't try calling to have them change the order because I'm pretty sure they won't do it.

If I'm not getting i5's switchable graphics, then I want the future-proofing of the i7's power, USB 3.0, and 4 RAM slots. I'll be ordering an i7 model immediately when another coupon code comes out.

I regret not ordering the i7 model in the first place. :(

I would suggest calling C.S. and explain your plan to cancel do to bad info on the i5, tell them you want to order an i7 version but only if you can get the same discount you has for the i5 (I assume the $350 coupon). They should work with you to add a new order.

Yep your gonna have to go thru canceling and reordering. Once the order has been placed they can't, or possibly just won't, change the order. This especially a pain if you paid using BML because then you have to cancel and have HP call BML to tell them the original order was canceled or most likely your new order will get denied by BML. If they don't do that then you have to wait until BML gets the cancellation info from HP via normal channels and that can take a week. I sent some stuff back to HP that was on BML, they supposedly issued credits back on the 12th but they still haven't shown up as credits on my BML account.

Thanks again for the info. Just worried about how long that updated order would then take to get to me. I think we've all been waiting for quite a while already. I see you're sticking to the 540M, are there other merits to it I should be considering? I mean really the most taxing thing I'll be doing is playing games and watching 1080p video. Would it actually be faster/better for me with that in mind?

Yes, they are unable to make any changes once the order is placed. Folks calling to add a slice battery, etc., forget it, they are unable to do it, and they can't sell parts either.

I waiting for my third envy, so I've been thru quite a bit of pain dealing with the sales guys. My first envy was a 720; I changed my mind after the order and wanted a 820. I called them and they couldn't make the change or cancel (it was in production already). I had to wait for the 720, and returned it. Had to order the 820 in a new order. One week after the new order was placed, the refresh was released. So yet another order ... :D Hoping the refresh gets here soon before I have to return this.

The i5 is a 35W CPU as compared to the i7's which are 45W. So on full load the i5 will run cooler and likely have a bit longer battery life. With 1080p H.264 video the GPU should be able to accelerate most of it, so the CPU should be nearly idle no matter what chip you have. I'm sticking with my i5. I'm a little disappointed they didn't opt to use the integrated GPU, but I'm still pretty sure I'll be happy with it after reading all the reviews. The i5 will also clock higher for a number of single-core loads than all but the most expensive of i7's, so you can get better performance in many games that are still single-threaded.

I just got off the phone with HP about my order being delayed from 1/19 to 1/30. The rep first checked the computer which had the old 1/19 date. Then she put me on hold and spoke with someone to confirm - however then she said it was scheduled for 1/30 (I suspect she was just echoing the date that I told her I received in an email).

I asked if it would be FedEx 2-day shipped or could be upgraded for free, but she said once the order is in, nothing about it could be changed. She kept reading off a script how HP would "expedite" the order, but she could not confirm what this actually meant.

I then requested that the $50 coupon I received be refunded on the purchase price, since I don't want anything else from HP. SHe put me on hold, then checked with a supervisor. When she came back, she said HP could not refund it against my order because I had used the $300 coupon. I told them that others had it refunded and I asked this critical question: "Why are some customers being treated differently than others?" She tried to bring up the coupon argument again (saying that the discount came from a different group higher up in HP), but then I repeated the question a second time - very slowly and calmly, "Why are some customers being treated differently than others?" She paused, reflected, and said that she would credit my account $50 and that it would take 3-5 days to show up. Clearly it was at her discretion and when backed into an uncomfortable corner, she gave in.

At the end of the call, I got her name and rep ID, then asked to fill out the survey (which hopefully makes sure that the $50 credit actually gets entered!).

because i've never bought anything from HP ever ever and I have no idea what is supposed to be happening, whether anything gets updated on the website or its all just crap spewing out of the CSRs mouths.

I was able to get a $50 credit but it won't apply until my i5 Envy ships. I just replied to the delay email and all was taken care of. Much easier than dealing with some rep on the phone.

I did the same thing, although with no argument from them. After they set up the credit (told me it will apply when shipped) I received the coupon code for the store ($50) by email, It worked ! Got the 250GB portable drive for $29.

My order page is also still saying 1/19. The 1/26 date came from a customer service rep.
