'cause they started generating shipping labels on Tuesday (2 days ago), but they didn't get on the FedEx truck until today. Then the truck got there late enough in the day to miss the "2-day" delivery (Thursday->Friday->Monday), so now it's basically Friday->Monday->Tuesday, hence Nov. 3rd.

Hey can all you guys do me a favor and check if your bing cb is still valid and active for the 25% discount, please?

I just got an email saying that:

Your Bing cashback purchase has been returned, exchanged, or canceled.

We want to let you know that your Bing cashback transaction(s) listed below were updated. This could have happened for one of several reasons. Your purchase is not eligible for cashback rewards if you used a separate discount, coupon, or promotional code, if you violated the Microsoft Service Agreement, or if the store notified us that the item(s) were returned or exchanged or that the transaction was canceled.

Here are the updates we received:

    Purchase date cashback Updated cashbackDetails
    10/29/2009 $450.00 $0.00 HPHome & Home Office Store
    Unit price: $0.00
    Quantity: 0

I feel like I feel like I got the shaft with this one.
I just opened my account, specifically to use with this, so I know I don't have multiple accounts and I didn't use any other discounts or coupons at checkout. I sure as heck didn't cancel my order, I just got my tracking number and I already confirmed it with HP.
I called HP and they said that the email that I got from bing was generated from bing and HP had nothing to do with them sending it. I'm pretty skeptical about bing cb because I did a little search and I found out that a good amount of people were denied thier cashback as well.
    What do you guys think?

I just got my Bing cashback cancellation too. I had tried to get the APP discount plus the Bing cashback. They just canceled the Bing cashback so I canceled my order. I just got off the phone with HP and they will have the order sent directly to them instead of me refusing delivery. They offered me $80 to keep the order, but I told them no. They are also not going to stick me with any shipping costs for the laptop or the accessories that I also received.

The order had been scheduled for delivery on Nov. 3rd, which is more than 2 business days from the October 28th. The rep told me to keep checking the HP web site as everything will be on sale the week before Thanksgiving. Now I just have to decide what laptop I will get instead.

OK, technically saying the hot air floats on top of the cool air is correct, but the point is that because cold air has a higher density of molecules, it is heavier, and therefore hot air appears to rise.

As for the air being blown away. Well, those vents underneath the notebook are not very big. So the air would indeed be blown out of them, but then they would rise (or float as you say). They would rise back into another part of the notebook where there is no fan forcing them downwards, especially considering that a notebook is most often used on a hard surface that air would "bounce" off of and back toward the notebook.

Therefore, they would heat other areas of the underside of the notebook, or your knees / groin. A foolish move, one that very few manufacturers have ever implemented. If HP managed to go against the grain and do so; I would actually go out and buy a hat, just to eat it.

My BCB is still working. It says 49 days till I get the cash. I sure hope it doesn't get canceled. I would cancel the order immediately. Here is a new email I got from HP to add to my saga. This is getting ridiculous. Its a good thing(for HP's sake) that none of the other i7 notebooks I'm interested in are released yet. Check this crap out:
Due to product constraints we will be unable to ship your order on the original estimated ship date. The revised estimated ship date for your order is 11/11/2009 or no later than 7 business days from the original estimated ship date. If you prefer not to wait you may cancel your order and receive a prompt refund by either replying to this email message with your order number or calling our toll-free customer service number at 866-288-1610 between 7:00 A.M. - 2:00 A.M. (ET) Monday through Friday or on Saturday between 10:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M. (ET).

If we do not hear from you before we ship your order, we will assume you have agreed to this shipment delay and still want your custom PC order. We apologize for any inconvenience this delay may have caused and thank you for your patience. Following this email you will receive a HP Home & Home Office Store $50 coupon due to the delay of your order.

To be fair that's pretty decent of them. They don't have to do anything like that; most people would still keep their order most likely. I mean seriously, you ever ordered a customised Dell? I waited 4 weeks for my last one, and it was nothing special.

Yup they offered me 10% off, thats like $180. Not as good as 450.. Anyway, they allowed you to cancel the order over the phone? If so, I think I am going to be cancelling mine as well..After reading all of the reiviews and shortcomings, I can't justify paying full price for this product. The Bing cb made it worth it but without it, I just can't do it, I had such high hopes for the Envy15. Maybe too high :(

Bing status hasn't changed for me.

@bdms08, sounds like they canceled your bing cashback due to using the APP discount. That possibility was made pretty clear on this forum. I didn't follow the fatwallet thread on the deal after it was posted, but I would bet they dug up the rules and found that the deal couldn't be combined with other deals.

@yay, you should probably check with BING support directly to see what is going on. My bing and HP account were opened for this deal as well and status is still good.

Just got back from BestBuy here in Montreal at the Marche-Central. To my surprise they had one on display and two in stock! I checked out the laptop on display and it was normally warm, as in not cold to the touch warm(so just barely warm). And it was fairly cold in the store. So I bought one, just brought it home, still in the box :).

so I just received an email from HP that my order has been delayed. Let me get this straight, my order went through and was approved on 10/18 @ 2pm est. But HP ships other orders taken after mine ahead of me? They want to give me 50 dollars for my inconvenience. I am calling now.

I agree that they didn't have to give me anything but, my ordering feasco with HP has been ridiculous, if you have been following my posts. I am not canceling my order and this gives me a chance to return it if Black Friday's discounts are larger. I have never owned or ordered a Dell. I live in Nashville where Dell is. I can drive to the dell plant in about 10mins. I have many friends who work for Dell and could get a employee discount if I wanted one. From the stories my friends tell, I don't believe I will ever own a Dell product.

Many thanks for the info. I would appreciate it if you would post any relevant info in this thread. I am traveling to Sweden next week and staying for a month. I am hoping that either the existing model is 1080p or that an alternative model will appear during my stay.

I don't have much hope finding a resolution with bing... I did a little searching and man, they don't even have a contact number. Everything and all communication is through email, forums, facebook, and twitter. I even went to the bing forums and there are people fuming about how they were denied cashback, petty stuff too like 5-10 dollars. Bing won't even honor that let alone my $450.
And yes, I will try and cancel my order, if not I will just return it back to HP within the 21 day peroid and hopefully snatch up good deal on black friday.

Make sure you get the 820qm for CAD work. It looks like it is a substantial performance gain over the 720qm, ~25%, for this type of applications. I would guess that WoW can be played at max settings. No one has any real benchmarks yet tho. Pre-Pro units scored ~7800 3dmarks.

Yes. Simple solution though, on a lot of cooling pads you can reverse the fan directions. With the vents being in the front, it would be stupid to have the exhaust there (though I wouldn't put it past HP) because then you would be cooking your nads or your wrists about as bad as an air popper for popcorn.

Although I would say that it depends on how much CAD work you do, and how complex it is. For some light usage, and even some moderate usage, the price difference might simply not be worth it.

Besides, the class will of course have to wait for the student with the slowest processor anyway, and even with the 720, it'll no doubt be faster than what some students will be using.

Another missed marketing opportunity for students perhaps? I can see it now:

New from HP - the Envy 15.
Calling all students! Don't you hate having to stop watching that movie, on your notebook computer, just so that you can go and make some popcorn? Well, HP have taken your comments on board and have produced the notebook computer of your dreams. Not only will you be able to watch your high definition movies on it's beautiful HD 1080p display, but by simply placing your bag of popcorn under the notebook for just 10 minutes, you can enjoy freshly popped popcorn without ever having to leave the comfort of your desk chair.

Buy now - give your legs a rest!

Every CAD class that I have taken(many) have been in computer labs using desktop machines. So, no waiting for a slower machine. All of the homework was done either in the lab or, if you were lucky enough to have a computer at home that was powerful enough to run CAD software, at home. If you are one of the lucky ones i would definately go with the 820qm to get my work done ~25% faster, if you are skilled enough for it to make a difference. I agree that the moderate user will most likely not notice a difference.

    LMAO

well im in my thesis year of architecture so i do an extreme amount of CAD plus on top of that i will be using programs like photoshop, 3ds max, sketchup, rhino, revit, and my favorite WoW hahaha. as long as this comp can handle these with no problem like my T61p has then I will buy it no doubt

ATI 4330 vs 4830. The difference is huge (without putting a figure on it). The HP Envy 15 is for gamers.

Got the MS BT mouse, it is smaller than a standard mouse by ~30%. I think it will work well, the only thing that bothers me with it is that it doesn't have a "forward" button (the 1 to the right-click button on other mice). Oh well, I think it is the best option is in the BT category for the money though.

    I'm considering the RadTech BT600 mouse: http://www.radtech.us/Products/bt600.aspx
A few things I like about it:

    1. Close to full-size.
    2. Has 5 buttons.
    3. You can connect it with a standard (mini) USB cable. It'll charge the batteries and you can still use the mouse at the same time. No special docking stations, USB dongles, bla bla bla. No extra accessories you might lose.
    4. No glossy top surface. (That's another reason I wanted Envy in the first place - little gloss.)

Anyone have any fresh experience with that mouse?

Don't think complaining is going to do anything. At least they gave us $50 to spend at their store  :sigh: :b!tch: :moan:

I read that some other people didn't even get the $50... That really irritates me that they gave it to some and not everyone that got delayed.

I just received the bing cashback cancellation email a few seconds ago. I am pretty sure I never use any other discount with my order. I am going to cancel my Envy 15 right now!

I guess something is wrong with HP. They may not have enough inventory to ship out, and they want us to cancel the envy.

Yeh I will do 3dmark then for ya tonite

well i dont think they make much from it,
its because the salesmen was pissed off that he had to give the sale to the otherperson, so he made it cheap as chips, so the sale looks shiet for the other person. I dont think they were too keen to do it.

Yeah, but that's from 2006... Might as well be an article about dinosaurs... ;) I'd like to hear some more recent info with later models of the mouse...

yay, I think we have exactly the same situation. The only difference is that I received my bing cashback return email 6 hours after you received it. I think either bing.com or hp does not want to honor this "huge" cashback. I would expect more people are going to receive this kind of email soon.

I have several issues with the Razer:

    1. It's too small. I want a larger mouse, like the BT600. (Though RadTech has smaller versions too...)
    2. It doesn't charge over the USB cable, like the BT600 (as far as I know). More accessories to lug around.
    3. I had a wired Razer mouse once but I couldn't stand the Razer ergonomics. It hurt my wrist.
    4. The Razer mouse is too sensitive. Yes I know you can adjust it, but it was still too sensitive for my taste.

Just got the Bing cancellation email as well.

Since the machine has already shipped I will at least open the box before sending it back to HP if Bing doesn't pay me...

    This is will be interesting.

Sorry to bring this up now but some person who had the laptop said VRAM was DDR3, but I'm pretty sure its GDDR3, but can draw on system RAM if needed right? I forgot who it was but they said it was DDR3. I checked around online about this specific card and under its specs it says 256-bit GDDR3 so yea. I'm assuming he accidently looked at system RAM instead of VRAM?
