Hi,
I am booting off the Win 8.1 from an intel 525 msata for my HP Envy 15 Touchsmart j032tx.
However I realized that my battery won't charge once the laptop has been powered up.
This is regardless of the battery charged status (Verified with 3%, 73% or 55% charged).
Had tested when the laptop and battery is cool as am aware that the battery won't charged when hot.
Had removed and re-installed the MS ACPI control method battery driver.
Had flashed its latest BIOS version to F.43.
The only way it will charge is when I powered down the laptop. (I notice the power LED will show non-charging once its at its POST stage, not even reaching its OS yet).
Thank for any help.
Regards

I'm not sure what this could be other than an electrical issue in the mechanism that figures out whether your power is on and plugged in. Might be worth trying a different power brick, but my money would be on your mainboard. This is a little bit outside my wheelhouse, but since it's prior to the OS even loading I don't think the MS ACPI driver makes a difference. Sorry I can't be of more help but I think this is going to require you to ship it to them - not only will you spend two hours on the phone explaining how your mSATA hasn't got anything to do with the problem (they will hear 'I installed my own xyz' and dwell on that) but this seems sufficiently uncommon that they'd rather just have you ship it to them then spend time on the phone trying to troubleshoot anything other than basic stuff.
I wouldn't even mention the SSD...just take it out before you mail it in.
