Got the 15 Envy. Trying to figure out how to switch my graphics from dynamic to fixed. I'm supposed to hit ESC at the boot then what do I do?

Will this permanently stick me with the AMD card on AC power and the integrated GPU when on battery? Some clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Ok. So I ended up accessing my bio (F10) and did the switch. Now I'm asking, what exactly did I do?

Will Fixed Mode mean my AMD GPU only operates when my laptop is plugged in?

Will my intel GPU only be employed when I'm on battery power?

    To do this just:
    1. Connect AC
    2. Go to BIOS(F10)
    3. Change the graphic mode from default dynamical to fixed
    4. Save changes(F9) maybe, and restart>OK

If you do this change without AC, you may lost your DGPU after you restart, that is ok.
    1. Connect AC
    2. Enable DGPU in devicemanager

Suggest you alwasy connect AC when you do Graphic setting change in BIOS.

Basically it means that you can choose when to switch the graphics card instead of it deciding when, and when you do switch it will only switch back if you tell it to, or if you choose, when you switch power source.

To switch just right click on your desktop and choose switchable graphics. Their is a way to set up hotkeys in the catalyst control center also.

    Bumping this.

After updating the BIOS a few days ago, I went back into the the BIOS settings and switched it of default to Fixed mode. It runs on the AMD card now all the time, and while I can get the Catalyst box up to switch like I used to, it wont actually switch. Ill click apply and nothing happens, it stays on the AMD card, even when off battery.

    Any ideas?

Try going back to old BIOS, check GPU, then go back to newest, check GPU again. Report your findings.

In the other thread, you said you changed your AMD drivers too. I would check this first, as you installed AMD drivers that "technically" don't support graphics switching. AMD recommends you install drivers from the manufacturer.

There is a work-around for this someplace on the forum. Can't remember where.

Ugh, so I have to choose to EITHER have switchable graphics, or have the memory leak problem when playing games?
