    Hey guys,
    i just bought new 15'' envy (15t-j000 quad edition) and while i'm waiting for laptop to arrive i am in a search for win7 drivers.
    So, i checked HP drivers page (only OS listed is win8) and a lot of other sites but i was kinda surprised with results and already reconciled with fact that it's gonna be pain in the a**... And just for the record, i really really tried to like now look and features of win8, but i just can't force myself to use it :D
    Well couple post on different forums were all about how some specific drivers might work, and that still don't guarantee it will work at all, so my question is:

    does anyone have same laptop as me and same desire to take down win8 and "downgrade" it to win7, and are there any drivers that would actually work?

    At the moment i cannot tell you guys specific data about each driver, since laptop is shipped and somewhere god knows where, but i can make a list of components since it was custom made on HP webshop (i'll make copy/paste);

    Windows 8 64
    4th generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4900MQ Processor
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M Graphics with 2048MB of dedicated video memory
    15.6-inch diagonal Full HD BrightView LED-backlit Display (1920x1080)
    16GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    1TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
    Backlit Keyboard
    802.11b/g/n WLAN and Bluetooth(R)

    And i am new on this forum so i apologize in advance if there is answer to my question, and i haven't seen it before.
    Thanks for all the help!

    I had the same issue so I did some scouring around and got a list of drivers you will need to search for and download. If I have time I'll post links to everything, but for now this should get you going.

    I have the 15-j059, so you may have some variation but this should help.

    sp61819 = synaptic touch
    sp61258 = IDT Audio Drivers
    sp61273 = Intel Graphics
    sp61797 = usb 2.0 port replicator (?) - If you plan on using a HP Port Replicator
    sp61798 = usb 3.0 port replicator (?) - If you plan on using a HP Port Replicator
    sp61263 = Valdity Fingerprint
    sp61271 = Realtek Card Reader
    sp61291 = HP 3D HDD Guard
    sp61612 = HP Utility Center
    sp61261 = Realtek LAN drivers
    sp61265 = Intel Chipset
    sp57698 = HP Software Framework

    Other than the long list of Win7 drivers that abs0lutezer0 posted (thank you for that!!!) is there any bios changes that need to be done to install Win7? Will it boot into Win7 without any problems? I tried to install Win7 on the older ENVY Sleekbook 4-1130us and I was having a real hard time getting the BIOS to set up properly.

    I am really hoping my Envy 15-j000 will be easier to adapt into Win7.

    I tried to install Windows 7 from both a CD and a USB stick and both failed on the initial screen due a missing CD/DVD driver. It asks to look for the driver on a different location but it won't even recognize either a CD or the USB stick. It seems that the only drive it sees is the original C:\ drive and all its partitions. How the heck are you supposed to load the driver if it won't even give you an option to load a separate location?

    BTW, this was the same issue I had on the 4-1130US.

    I got Windows 7 installed on my mSATA SSD drive but I am having a hard time with drivers. Most of the ones on HP are locked to Windows 8.

    Anyone know of any HP laptops that have Windows 7 AND a 740M?

    I got ethernet working so far and working on Windows update to see if I can find the rest but the 740M seems to be locked so far.

    If it's not one thing its another... if I didn't really love this laptop's hardware it would be going back in a heartbeat.

    I finally got Windows 7 fully loaded and all drivers loaded on the SSD (took me hours to hunt them down). Updated it completely and it runs lightning fast...right until I put back the HDD back into the bay. It refuses to boot from the SSD no matter how I arrange the bootmgr. I can boot using the Windows 7 USB stick into the SSD but when I try to change the bootmgr back to the SSD (using EasyBCD) It refuses to boot into W7.

    If there is a setting in the BIOS that needs to be changed I must be blind cause the BIOS only has a total of like 5 things that you can actually change.

    Right now, I am running fine with just the SSD but at 256GB that is not going to cut it in the long run.

    Any clues as to what I can change?

    intel.com will have most if not all of your hardware drivers and geforce.com/drivers has your graphics card driver.
