I recently purchased my HP Envy 17" and it came with a faulty HDD. I had that replaced and got everything back up and running in windows with all updates (excluding the video drivers). One thing I am noticing now is that I do not see a boot option into the Quick Web that was originally advertised on this model.

How do you boot into this portion of the laptop instead of the whole OS?

I may be mistaken, but I believe I read HP discarded Quickweb some time ago.

My 2nd-generation Envy 14 didn't come with QuickWeb, for what it's worth. Like what vsherry said, I believe HP stopped shipping it on their new laptops.

At least I'm not overlooking anything then but they really need to update their website.
HP ENVY 17 series | HP Official Store

Under Fast Connections one of the last bullets is HP QuickWeb. I'm not sure how often if at all I would ever use this feature but I thought if I paid for it then it better well be there and I must have been missing a button somewhere.

So far outside of the; 3 week wait, faulty HDD on delivery, and then a blank screen from Windows Update I am really enjoying this laptop for gaming. I'm glad to have come across this forum that has a ton of info regarding tweaks for my Envy.

I'm currently working on getting some baseline Temp readings. This morning while getting ready for work I did some idle, Titan Quest, and WoW readings which were quick but hopefully accurate (I'll do longer test tonight while "really" gaming). I ran between 43C-53C-62C (idle - tq - wow) so if they stay in that range I'm an overall happy HP customer.

    UPDATE: UPDATE: UPDATE: UPDATE:
I have been working with support regarding my faulty HDD and decided to ask about this. They emailed me the link on how to enable/setup the QuickWeb feature (since I could not seem to find it anywhere myself).

However, following this document my Start Menu doesn't contain the stated program along with my BIOS boot options do not show InstantOn. I am expecting a followup call today and will ask why they state HP QuickWeb on their sales site but it doesn't come included on the system.

I honestly don't even understand why you want the feature. It wasn't exactly adored when it did come with the systems.

Well I've never used it before and at least hoped to try it myself. I do a lot of webpage design strickly from notepad. Using QuickWeb could be great on battery life and boot time so that I could load up my webpage that is basically a web version of notepad. Again in short, I think it's mostly I want to at least try it out and see how I could utilize it.

Isn't this the same as Splashtop OS? Can be downloaded freely and installed on any laptop by all accounts?

Thank you for the heads up on Splashtop OS. I have downloaded it and gave it a shot. The bad news, after installation and rebooting the screen just stays black then flashes a message that the video is incompatible. So apparently this program doesn't work for all laptops. :(

    UPDATE:
My envy has the AMD 6850 chipset. Not sure if a basic Intel driver was used in the Splashtop OS (similar to the switchable graphics in win7) but either way it didn't work for me. Perhaps anyone with Envy 3D (nVidia cards) will have better luck.

Thanks for the warning... I haven't got to try it myself yet...
