Hello all. I started this thread a long time ago and it's closed now. I've lived on by replacing the thermal paste every year or so. The PC still runs very hot (90-100ish). My kids use it and it stands everything we throw at it.
I've found these two options which I din't know back then:
Liquid metal paste
IC Graphite
Also, the option that was mentioned in the thread about switching from the original i7 720M to an i5 580M is interesting, but I must get it from China. I'll look for a good offer because I wouldn't want to spend a lot and then have the board not recognise it.
Is there a thermal paste that remains stable under high heat conditions for longer?
What do you think about the cooling options I mentioned earlier (liquid metal, IC Graphite)?
Thanks.

Liquid metal will help ONLY if heat exchanger isnt the weak link in the cooling system.
I never messed with IC Graphite yet, just liquid metal.alavena likes this. -
If it isn't thermal throttling at those temps, i'd suggest just leaving it. If your CPU fails you can at least replace it relatively cheaply. My old Dell XPS ran at 95 degrees for several thousand hours whilst gaming, and the CPU still works fine.

I agree with that and it wouldn't be a problem, but the keyboard gets hot as well. It happens every year or so till I replace the paste, but every time I open it there's the risk of busting a cable or getting the feet non-sticky. That is why I'm looking for a more permanent option.Arrrrbol likes this.

Arctic mx-4 claims (on the package) to last for 8 years.
Why not use a long lasting thermal paste?
I use arctic mx-4 and I never re-apply it.
Almost forgot, mx-4 is not electrically conductive.
It won't short out anything. That's another reason I like it.alavena likes this. -
I can honestly recommend Gelid GC Extreme Thermal paste. It will keep your CPU temps down and its long lasting as well. Many users will recommend it for laptops. Top performance paste.
