    Hello,

I know, that there are several threads like this on the internet, but none of them clearly say what is the problem. My Dv7's subwoofer generated beautiful sound with great bass (thanks to SRS Premium settings), but my HP Envy 17-1188EL sounds awful. Bass is muted and hardly audible. I had Windows 7 Ultimate with IDT drivers installed, now I have Windows 7 Home Premium and try the third different driver, but nothing changed. Is my Envy supposed to sound the same/better than Dv7? They both have the same subwoofer. Has anyone resolved this problem? These things with Enhancements and Window's Sound Setting don't bring almost any improvement.

EDIT: The previous owner had stock HP's Windows 7 but he removed Recovery partition, so I made a clear install. Does it make a difference?

Not sure if it is an issue, the subwoofer on my Envy 17t-3200 sounds like crap as well. I miss the speakers/sub on my Dell XPS 15 so much compared to this and it was only 2 channel... The beats has 4 speakers and a sub and sounds like garbage in comparison.

I have Envy 1XXX and it has 2 speakers + subwoofer ;) and it doesn't sound like a crap with sub ON, but with OFF it is a nightmare. Any ideas why after clean install with proper drivers installed it doesn't work?
