    Hi,

I have a HP Envy 17 3200 CTO 3D that is failing the BIOS update.
I get a popup error with some chinese text, numbers and a path to a volume.

It shipped with F.07. I have tried all the ones available on the support website (F.06, F0.8 and F.0A) and they all fail with the same chinese error.

HP support had me restore the BIOS using Win + B which brought it to F.04 (worse).
They also had me reset the CMOS by disconnecting the batteries. It still failed.
Now they want me to send it for service.

Has anyone gotten their BIOS flash to work on a 3200 3D? If so do you know what your product id is? My product id is 01852. When I look in the bios service packs I see images for 01851 and 01853, none for 01852, which is suspicious to me.

Any experiences would be appreciated. I'm nervous to send my barely 3 month old laptop in, thinking they will send me a different unit that is refurb.

I flashed mine just a few days ago to the F.0A without any issue. HP Envy 17t-3200 CTO 3D as well. I'm running windows 8 on mine.

My product number is listed as: A6U50AV when I hit FN + ESC. I am not sure where you got the other product id number from.

I would try installing this: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...dlc=en&lc=en&os=4132&product=5275345&sw_lang= then reboot and try the bios update again. Also make sure you are on AC power and not battery.

    Thanks for the feedback.
The other product id I got from the top boxes in the flashing program. I do have the same product id from the FN+ESC popup.
I guess there must be something wrong with mine then. I also could not get the UEFI utility to work (could be my usb stick was no good though I suppose). This is the first time I could not get a bios to flash, but it's also my first UEFI based bios

Thanks for your help, I'm sadly sending it back Monday and hopefully they will fix it instead of sending me a refurb.
