    Hi guys,

I read the forum and from what I understand the 1050EA model was one of the first Envy models suffering from constant overheating. Is this the case? Does this model get very hot even when simply surfing the net? Can the issue be eased with a good cooling pad?

I am asking because I am considering getting this exact model (£699, great price! HP Envy 17-1050EA 17.3" Laptop with Beats Audio - Silver at cheap prices | PC World)

Am I stepping onto a mine with buying this laptop?

Don't put your foot down on that land mine. Otherwise, you'll need a bomb technician.

There. Did that answer your question? :)

Not exactly heat. Had a lot of quality issues. Search my name in this subforum.

I own the 17-1011nr and really like it. Heat is tolerable. I paid much less than even that price though so my expectations weren't very high but it exceeded them.
