I'm replacing the MoBo on an Envy 17-3090NR 3D and there are 4 Capacitors next to the GPU that need Thermal Pads.
Has anyone done their Thermal Paste and Pads on a 17-3090NR that can tell me what thickness of Thermal Pad is required for the Capacitors.

    Thanks in advance....

I don't know if this helps, but I just replaced a 3720 -> 3840 on my 17-3200 CTO (AMD Radeon HD 7850M). According to the service manual there was suppose to be GPU thermal pads in the same configuration as you describe, and the heat sink will accommodate such (I am GUESSING ~1.0-1.5 mm thick, ~14mmx14mm). In fact, no pads were installed, which I didn't find out until removing the heat sink. I had purchased K5-Pro thermal paste (re: ebay), but didn't use it.

My biggest issue was replacing the CPU required a complete teardown of the laptop. The first time you take things apart, they tend to stick, and can be quite nerve racking. I highly recommend using Tuniq TX-4 thermal compound when reinstalling the heat sink, because you want it right, THE FIRST TIME.
    luck
