Just curious if anyone else currently has an Envy 17t-3200 on order and has been waiting for it to be made?
I originally ordered on September 6th with a build-by date of September 17th. I got a notice around then that due to production delays my new ship date would be October 1st. At this time they gave me a link to check on the latest status. At the link it changed to September 28th, and then on the 28th it changed again to October 8th.
Any idea what is causing the production delays? At this point and after all these delays I am beginning to lose confidence in HP.

I wish I knew! I, too ordered an HP Envy 17. Sweet machine, heavily customized, was supposed to ship by 9/17, then it was revised to 10/4 and today revised up to 10/12! In today's msg they said that they would give me a 10% refund when they shipped the computer, but I am sorely tempted to just cancel the order and go elsewhere. I have been a loyal HP customer for the last 6 laptops I have purchase and have been very satisfied with their products. This is the first time this has happened. I understand one delay, but c'mon, this is ridiculous. I asked the person from HP what it was that was holding things up, thinking that if they were waiting for more memory - for example - I would cancel and order another one with less memory, or if they were waiting for more SSD's, I could redo my HD configuration, etc. But they were no help, just production delay. I then asked if instead of 10% could they just switch to expedited shipping, like overnight, since I had been waiting so long? Uh, no, not possible, hands are tied, there is not a thing I can do. It was like dealing with the airlines. I am a software developer for a company, there is no such thing as "it's not possible", they just wouldn't let this rep have the freedom to provide excellent customer service. Because I love the Envy and am excited about the machine, I am thinking I will just wait it out, but if they delay again, that'll be it. I may have to go buy a Dell.

I had almost the exact same experience yesterday, as my date was also moved to 10/12, and they said I could not change my order to possibly solve whatever component they were waiting for. I think their limitations are based on their order management system. That's fine, I am not in a huge hurry, and I like the 10% discount. I would get a Dell but they are so ugly and much more expensive. Plus they do not offer the 12 mo. no interest finanancing that HP has. Considering I already got a $486 discount coupon and 10% on top of that!
Thank you for confirming your Envy 17 also has the same delay. -
Mine is also got delayed. Ordered mine on 9/13, estimated ship date 10/1. Then I got an email 10/2 stating that their was a delay in production and will estimate my new ship date 10/16. So thats 1 month of waiting for my order from HP. First and last time ordering from hp again. I tried to get that extra 10% discount but they gave me $50 bucks off instead. I wouldn't mine waiting if I got that extra 10% to make it 40% off my Envy. But I guess I can use that $50 bucks to upgrade my ram to 16GB.

Good use of the extra $50 credit. I ordered mine a full week before you so I guess the extra 10% is called for.
BTW, I checked Dell and Lenovo today and neither could make a similar system sooner or as inexpensive. -
I wonder if they are under stock on CPU. I ordered the i7-3720QM, which one did you end up ordering. I think all the companies are getting ready for windows 8 launch so they maybe using the ivy bridge for upcoming machines or Intel can keep up with the demand.
I don't know about you guys but waiting 2 weeks was already long enough, now we have to wait another 2 weeks. This Envy better be worth it. -
I ordered mine with the lowest-end i7 configuration, the 3610QM.
If I had to guess, I would bet it is either a CPU shortage, a 17.3" screen shortage, the labor issues with Chinese workers, or possibly a combination of the three and maybe other factors.
Here is a story about what is going on in China and it is quite possible it affected HP's manufacturing facilities too as Foxconn makes components for HP:

I know what you mean about waiting. The machine better be perfect, because if we have to ship them back it will likely be another month for a replacement! I sent back my brand new dv6t-7000 last month because I was unhappy with some of the fitment and have been waiting somewhat patiently ever since for the Envy!
By the way, my ship date changed from the 12th to the 9th overnight, so there is hope! -
As of this morning, my build-by date is still October 9th!
-
Mine still says Oct 1st so I don't know how their system is being updated.
-
Still at October 9th on the website. Could the date really be approaching, or is it just a false date? Time will tell!!!
-
Just got of the chat session with a lovely representative from HP andmy ship date is now the 11th. Is this what others are finding out?
-
Mine still shows Oct. 9 (tomorrow). I will post tomorrow if it changes or if I get a shipping notice.
-
Overnight my date changed to Oct. 11 as well.
-
Mine still says the 9th and it already the 10th. What are they doing?
-
I'm hoping for a shipping notice tomorrow or Friday. The original email about the delay said October 12th. If it doesn't ship this week, I am close to giving up.
-
I got my shipping notice! Shipped on Oct. 11th, estimated arrival by Oct. 16th.
-
Arrival date changed to Oct. 17th due to the package arriving after cutoff time.
-
I am considering the 17t-3200 3D Version, Is the price good now? I can wait a couple weeks if I need to but I really want to order it now. Right now I can get it for $1,059.99 after save50hp before tax and shipping. Are the 3d ones seem to be delayed also? That's a damn good price. Less than I paid for my non-3D version. The web site reports Oct. 29th for the delivery date so that probably already includes the delay, but who knows. I ordered mine on Sept. 6th and it just shipped today.
-
I'm going to pass but if you are the fence this is probably the best price you are going to get until its discontinued later this year. -
Well thats a relief. Finally they are shipping it out. Still waiting on my shipping confirmation.
-
You ordered a week after me so yours is hopefully close as well. Please keep us updated.
-
Yay!
Oct 15, 2012 6:46 AM - On FedEx vehicle for delivery -
Just got my shipping confirmation, estimate delivery Oct 19th. Finally!! I guess its good timing too, because now i can compare it with new laptops being released for windows 8 and return it if there are better options out there. I still rather get an IPS display and matted screen but I guess I just have to test it out.
-
Yay! Congrats.
Mine arrived at 12:28pm. So far it looks fine. No cosmetic issues that I can see. -
I just got mine, estimated shipping the 18th. I love 2 day shipping.

Mine took only 4 days, including the weekend.
