Hello Everyone!
Does you guys know how to upgrade the ram?
1) I heard that if we use different manufaturers of ram sticks it could cause graphical glitches. I got the 1 stick 4gb when I bought my 1st gen hp envy 14 incase I wanted to upgrade the RAM... But what kind of ram do I need to get to ensure there are no problems?
2) Is there a manual that teaches you how to upgrade the Ram?
3) How much of a performance gain would I probably get from upgrading RAM? (I do lots of coding, compiling in C , and photoshop work and etc.)
Thanks so much!![]()

I upgraded my Ram to 8gb from 4gb. I purchased G-Skill ram due to the postitive reviews. Here is what I ordered:
Newegg.com - G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Laptop Memory Model F3-10600CL9D-8GBSQ
To replace the ram, on the back of your laptop you will see a panel with two screws (in the middle of the back below the battery) remove the panel and you will see the wifi module and the ram next to it. Just press the metal tabs on each side of the ram to pop it out. When inserting new ram slide it in at an angle and it will pop into place when its secure.
I have had zero issues, truthfully in my opinion if you hear anyone or any company saying you have to buy their ram or your PC will have issues, thats them trying to sell you something at a higher price. If I were you, for $36 get the ram I bought, trust me you will not be unhappy. After I ordered this ram I reflashed the f.23 bios for my laptop (from f.26) and went in and todl the bios to use the ram at its maximum speed of 1333 instead of 1033. Smooth as butter. I play Modern Warfare 3 on thsi laptop at maximum everything on the settings and its smooth on this laptop, especially after the upgraded ram and the bios memory speed tweak.
