There is no envy 6z with fhd screens then even if you have the cable I think it won't work. The bios is not the same as envy 6t.

Sorry for my ignorance, but I didn't know that screen resolution is influenced by the bios. Is there any menu that controls it?

The resolution depend on the screen. But the cable will only work if the constructor decide so.
Envy 6z and 6t do not share the same motherboard, then the bios is not the same.

I do understand that Envy 6z and 6t uses different system board, but don't they use the same display panel cable?

They use the same 1ch lvds cable, but the bios on envy 6z is not designed for the use of 2ch lvds cable.
It also depends on the motherboard integration of lvds dual-channel Interface, and I don't think HP managed to make envy 6z motherboard compatible if they do not even provide fhd models.
