Can anyone suggest if HP Envy beats with below configuration is good one and worth 1150 bucks?

    HP Envy Beats CTO
    i7 2670QM
    8GB
    160GB SSD
    Other default

Also unable to decide whether to choose

    i5 2430 vs i7 2670QM
160GB SSD vs dual drive 80GB SSD + 500GB HD

I am medium user and not extensive gamer. Just want to have the latest edition so that I will not be outdated soon.

I would recommend the dual drive config (80GB SSD & 500GB HDD). The SSD as your OS drive and most used app drive. The HDD for your SSD image backups, data, media and games. You certainly won't regret that scenario.

8GB is perfect. You could always add more later, though doubt you'd need to.

As for the i5 or i7, go with the i5 is you plan on buying another notebook in two years or so. Otherwise, get the i7. There are other reasons to do one or the other and I hope others will chime in, but most have been plenty satisfied with an i5.

No. SSD module in single drive configuration is a 2.5" drive module. In dual drive configuration, the SSD is an mSATA type. Basically, in that config, the SSD is as small as a wifi module and is installed in a slot that looks like a wifi module slot.

As for the brand and models, I don't know offhand but would venture a guess as to it being Intel or Samsung. You can ask in the owner's lounge which it is.
