I received a hp envy beats laptop a week ago and now there is news of HP Envy Spectre Release on Feb 8.

Is it worth returning my envy beats laptop and wait for envy spectre? I have 10 more days left for return. I am happy with my beats version, but spectre is ultrabook and has high battery life and better screen resolution.

I'm not sure what you may want to do on your laptop, but the Spectre doesn't have a dedicated gpu, so you won't get very good graphics on it.

Correction: you won't get very good gaming graphics on it. The Intel GPU should be more than capable of handling the desktop UI, movies, web browsing, and most flash-based content.

Buying something the first month it's out is a great way to be an involuntary beta tester. Who knows what hiccups still need to be sorted out. If you're happy with your Beats, I might just stick with that, particularly given the huge difference in gaming ability.

Thanks Guys for reply. I got my current beats version for 1100 and its specs are

i7-2670QM, 8GB RAM and 160GB SSD (rest are defaults)

I am not an extensive gamer, but do lot of browsing, watch movies and work sometimes.

Is there such a huge difference between current 1300*768 screen in beats and 1600*900 radiance screen everyone is talking about?

The radiance screen is supposed to be a lot better I've heard. Of course I've also been hearing that in the Envy 15 , that the radiance screen makes red look Orange.

Weigh the pros and cons. The new Envy 14 has a better screen, battery life, and is slimmer. Although It's costs more and the specs aren't as good a the current model.

But if the ENVY spectre has the same screen as the ENVY 15, it will most likely have red/orange issues..

I thought it was the IPS screen in the Envy 15 that was giving the red/orange issues. I haven't been following the threads much though so I might be wrong.

You're correct. "Radiance" has no real meaning to it from a technical standpoint. HP just uses it as a marketing term to denote their premium display upgrade. The TN panel in the Envy 17 can produce accurate colors while the IPS panel in the Envy 15 cannot. So fingers crossed that the Envy 14 Spectre has the same quality TN panel that is used in the Envy 17.

It's quite noticeable. If you get used to 1600x900 or 1920x1080, you will not want to go back to 1300x768.

768p is comparable to 1080i visually, so the difference is somewhat like the difference between watching an HD cable channel (1080i) vs. watching a blu-ray (1080p), in terms of detail and crispness.

Sorry, but this makes no sense.
