I don't own the ENVY m4 anymore but I did get an early prototype from HP to try out and did a video review so I'll add that in there and invite others that do own the ENVY m4 to contribute their reviews in this thread as well!

Envy M4 Drivers [HP Site]
I've taken the liberty of getting and installing drivers for Windows 7, here's the 7z I made for some the drivers required (Note: WiFi and LAN do not auto install, download before reverting!). The regular Windows 7 drivers can be found on HP's website above, but my Realtek LAN and USB 3.0 ports can only be installed either through Device Manager or the setups included.

Finally, in order to run Windows 7, you must enable the CSM Legacy module in the M4's BIOS in order to load the correct materials needed to boot Win7. -
Thanks again!!

I own the m4-1015dx. I got it when it was $200 off from best buy and it was a steal of a deal.
There are three key aspects that need to be addressed to make this laptop "perfect" for my needs.
1. Lack of bluetooth connectivity
2. SLOW wireless adapter (uses 1x1 instead of 2x2 and makes network multitasking virtually impossible)
3. Low resolution / poor picture quality - A slightly upgraded 1600x900 resolution display would make this PC nearly perfect for me, as I need that extra workspace for programing.
Aside from those issues, I otherwise love the little guy.
I did two things as soon as I bought the laptop.
1. I replaced the HDD with a 256GB OCZ Vertex 4
2. I replace the ram with DDR3-1600 9-9-9-24 (a large improvement on the CAS timings - the stock ram is rated at DDR3-1600 11-11-11-28 - which should help with tasks involving the HD4000)
I ran Win 7 for a while on it but finally bit the bullet (again) and put Win 8 Pro on her. It's lightning fast and meets expectations in nearly every way
I'd be happy to answer any questions about the laptop if anyone has any.

P.S:
Here are my AS SSD scores from just after my last Windows 7 installation

Yoshi,
how are you feeling about the laptop after a few months of use? did you change the wireless card & or add a bluetooth adapter? -
I bought the m4-1015dx during the Best Buy Black Friday deal based on specs alone. I realize now that an SSD is imperative to improve this machine's performance levels up to its potential. I am planning on buying the Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB and I would like to install the 1TB HDD in the optical bay using one of those HDD Caddys. Has anyone done this?
Yoshi, which brand of RAM did you buy to replace the stock? Did you notice gaming performance gains? I want to run StarCraft on high settings, which seems impossible in its current config (I am told the Intel HD4000 can achieve this with a Core-i7 and the right memory/SSD).
Thanks,

Question on my HP Envy m4...connecting the laptop to my receiver via HDMI, the laptop is decoding audio to multichannel PCM. I can't seem to find a setting to have it bit stream the digital audio undecoded. Surely there's a way to do this?...Thanks for any help!

no one knows the answer to this?...

Honestly I think Hp envy m4 is crap, I got mine the day windows 8 came out and it has never worked right, it is completely unstable, I have refreshed and reset it countless times, but how do I fix it.

Hello friends I 'm planning to buy HP envy M4 1015 laptop . I saw the configuration, overall i'm satisfied but anyone about graphic card? did it possible to upgrade or buy additional graphics card for this laptop?
guybers@: did you upgrade your graphics of this laptop? how are you feeling about the laptop after a few months of use? -
Have any owners been able to upgrade the wireless card on this computer? So far I've had no success and the 1 x 1 connection is killin' me.
