    Hello all!

About two months ago I purchased an HP Envy M6-1125dx and I was on a tight budget therefore I bought the one with and i5-3210M with the 750GB SATA HD for $480 after a discount on an open box. After using it for a few days I noticed that it was a bit slow for my usage so I decided to upgrade.

    Original CPU i5-3210M to i7-3610QM $125.00 from E-Bay
    Original HD 750GB 5400RPM to Samsung 840 Pro 128GB $100.00 from Microcenter
9.5mm sata to sata 2nd hdd hard drive caddy $9.99- secondary HD and got rid of the Cd Rom who uses that anyways.
Intel Network 6235AN.HMWWB Wireless WiFi Centrino Advance $24.98 (includes Bluetooth and it picks up the 5G from the router)

    Tota Upgradesl=$259.97
    Paid for Laptop=$480.00
    Total with upgrades=$740.00
Cost of original configuration in best buy=$699.99

The upgrade is totally worth it, great battery life, (graphics are good for what I do), lightweight, great looking package.

Note: if you are doing this upgrade be cautious and patient during the disassembly process, here is service manual Manuals for HP ENVY m6-1125dx Notebook PC | HP® Support.

Just wanted to share with all that is doable, happy tweaking!

    Hi Ed,
Hi I want to upgrade to SSD and set the HDD in a caddy as you did.
When you swopped the HDD to SSD, could you switch to AHCI mode in BIOS?
    Thanks
    Felip

To each his own I guess!

For $599 you could buy a refurb ENVY Touchsmart 17.3" 1080p, w/8gb, a 4700mq quad-core Haswell, backlit KB, 1TB hard drive, and AC WiFi.

I didn't buy that one but bought a similar one, nearly identical but with 12gb and 2x2 AC WiFi, for $699 & free S/H.
