I recently bought my HP Envy on eBay but the high pitch squeal is annoying me so much that I decided I want to return it. The seller seems to be willing to issue a refund but in case he doesn't, I have a few questions.

The computer is still within its 21 day return period by HP since the seller got it on April 19th. Is it possible to get HP to refund it to me and not the seller should I return it directly? That is, can I change ownership through HP (providing them with proofs of purchase etc.) so they can credit me instead?

(I wouldn't be losing much since I got bing cashback on eBay and the seller was only aiming for a $50 profit margin from the coupon I missed)

That's a great question - I imagine you may need the sellers help.

Would you trust the seller to request the FedEx return label from HP, forward it to you by email, receive the reimbursement to his credit card account from HP once you return it and then refund your payment?
