Ok, I saw a new bios on the HP website F.12 so i flashed it no problems, then i benchmarked my SSD today, not related to the bios as i had not noticed a problem, so when i did benchmark i waonly getting 257mb/s read/write approx , i tried changing all the sata driver and the ssd driver for older version no difference, then i remembered i had flashed the bios today.
I ran crystal disk info and it showed "Transfer mode : SATA300 : SATA600" , when it was showing "Transfer mode SATA600 : SATA600" as i have an capture of my SSD bios and setting when i first got it for comparison.![]()
So i downloaded an older bios only one available F.03 old of what? , so i flashed it and now my speeds are back to 500mb/s again.
So what are HP playing at, this is an 20" Table/Notebook as it has a built in battery and it comes with an 1TB Segate Momentus XT with 8GB of Flash, where HP having stability problem at SATA600? or is this just a foul up?
Anyway i am happy again, i will try the hp software update app and see if there is anything newer than F.03
EDIT: Oh Yeah, the F.12 Bios adds a touch keyboard in the bios, that was not there in the previous bios, but SATA300 no way.
EDIT2: the hp update version is showing as F12apr1 a different on, i just flashed it and i am back to SATA300, looks like the bios previous is F.05 i will give that a try.
EDIT3: Bios F.05 give SATA600 so it look like it is the latest i can use.

104 views and not a single comment, how would you like a firmware upgrade that halved your transfer speed.

It looks like the F.12 bios has been removed from the hp website, only F.05 is avalible now.
I am surprised this thread has not had any replies

Either it is a bug or intentional change to prevent some other issue. Hard to say and I'm guessing HP guys won't tell you the reason if asked. If it is changed back to 600 in the next bios release, it was a bug.
Or you could extract the sata part from the previous bios and inject it into the new one for some custom happiness... Unless that bios is also encrypted, it's doable but not for everyoneTinderbox (UK) likes this. -

I am in no hurry for the bios update, but i always install them when they are available, it`s just a good that i was able to flash the previous bios to get my 600 back, 300 is fine for an HDD but not for an SSD, i was worried about contacting HP as i don't know if i would loose my warranty by installing an SSD in my Rove 20 as it`s a big tablet and not easy to get into like a notebook, even though HP puts the service manual next to the user guide to download.
Thanks
