When it hits the Envy 14 then it will be something to talk about.

Looks like it's only available in Envy 17 3d

Huh? Just checked through Hp's website, I see nothing of the sort in the part listings of the envy 14 or 17

    Did not check the 3d.

i placed my order for hp envy 17 3d some time back. the processor i got for my envy was:
    2nd generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2820QM (2.3 GHz, 8MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 3.4 GHz

    -----------
    Consider this item:

Amazon.com: HP ENVY 17 Notebook 256GB SSD + 1TB (Intel Core i7 EXTREME i7-940XM Quad Processor - 2.13GHz with TURBO BOOST to 3.33GHz, 8 GB RAM, 256GB SSD and 1 TB Hard Drive 1256 GB total, BLU-RAY drive, BEATS AUDIO, 17.3-inch WIDESCREEN display, Win

can someone tell me whether the i7-940XM EXTREME Quad processor that has TURBO BOOST up to 3.33GHZ is superior the processor i am getting in my laptop in terms of speed/performance.

incidentally, only after i placed the order, did i realize that the cool sense technology has not yet been implemented in the envy. i hope my laptop with the sandy bridge processor will not face extreme heating issues.

They haven't updated every information yet. As of now we can't confirm if it's with the coolsense tech. But most likely IMO it's with cool sense and everything advertised during the CES just that they didn't update the informations yet. Seeing how messed up and messy the hp website is, it will probably take them another few days or even weeks

Briju: The 2820QM is the latest sandy bridge; my guess is that it will outperform the 940 esp in certain areas where SB has been optimized (like Excel), and the SB will support switchable graphics. a bunch of us on the "Waiting for the SB Envy 17" thread believe with about 80% confidence that if it contains a Sandy Bridge processor, then it contains all the other goodies announced on January 4, such as HDMI 1.4, CoolSense, WiDi, switchable 6850 GP

As mimipee rightly points out, the website is in transition and quite confusing right now
