I saw the haswell 17" envy at best buy yesterday, they were putting them out as I arrived. It looked really solid, cost $1000 and appeared to have a glossy IPS panel. Very nice, and I am considering purchasing one.
Here it is: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HP---EN...lver/9349042.p?id=1219013209337&skuId=9349042 -
Strange. In the official website of HP its still not out there yet. All are old models or "HP Envy DV" series laptops
-
Probably never? It didn't release for Ivy Bridge.
Its spiritual successor is the HP Envy Touchsmart which is on sale. -

Edit: BB rep confirmed that the Envy touchsmart that they carry does have an IPS screen. -
With progression from IB to Haswell, is there any boost in battery life? Can someone show me the user review of this particular HP Envy Series with Haswell update?

On your question, though we have no data on this particular model - Envy 15/17t... the change to Haswell cpus should increase the battery life of similarly configured models - Haswell vs. IB by 25%-50%. The problem is we don't have an apples-to-apples comparison, as so much about this Envy Touchsmart series seems different than the Envy DV6 it replaces. Also, note that the percentage increase in battery life (remember, you also have to be comparing batteries of the same capacity, unless your measurements are in power consumption/hr) found in the first few Haswell models to trickle out with reviews are all, to my knowledge, dual core Haswell ULV cpu/igp configurations - eg, the MacBook Air 13 that has been widely reiviewed. I don't recall seeing any tests/comparisons of Haswell quad core mobile cpu/igp nor any with Haswell cpu and any d-gpu. Still, Haswell mobile cpus are all about lower power consumption for equal or greater performance (of the igp; the performance of the equivalent cpu is about the same as IB) so it's hard to imagine not picking up at least a 25% increase in battery life. The thing idles at such a low power drain and rushes to idle state much more quickly and more often that it can't help but improve battery life.
None of the above should be considered any more definitive than the partial memory of a person who has read a few articles!
