hi. I purcahsed an hp Envy 13 1030ca yesterday May 11, 2011 in canada from a store called NCIX. When i first purcashed it, the representative of NCIX clearly states that the notebook is brand new, unused. As i opened the box, everything were properly sealed, brand new. However today when i checked the warranty status of my computer with the serrial number, it says that the computer's warranty expires in 8 days!!! Could this mean that the laptop was previously owned or used by another person? I noticed that the laptop was manufactured in 2010 april. I know the warranty starts at the day you purchase the computer. So today i went to a local bestbuy asked him to show me the box of an envy 13 and i took a picture of the serial number of their envy 13 1030ca. i realized the envy 13 at bestbuy was manufactured in 2009. And when i insert the serial number to the HP warranty check status, it says that laptop's warranty is EXPIRED, in 2010 12-30. Can someone pelase explain this to day.? i thought warranty suppose to start the day you purcahse the laptop?? or is it b ecause the fact that when the laptop is shipped to the designated location, the warranty already begun?? Im very afraid that i purcahsed a refurbished or used laptop. I paid a lot of money on this computer.

No need to panic. Here is what you do.

    1. Click START on the desktop.
    2. Scroll down and click on HP folder
    3. Click on HP Support Assistant.
    4. Once HP Support Assistant opens up, look at the bottom gray bar. You will see your product name, and the serial number. To the right you will see a warranty button, and a button to send feedback to HP. Click on the warranty button.
    5. If it asks you to choose (first time you do this only) choose yes, and click ok.
    6. Your warranty expiration date will now be displayed! :p ;)

    Hope that helps.

Witty, also if the above step still shows 8 days of warranty left feel free to give HP a call, and have the warranty updated.

Warranties start @ manufacturing date, or at Time of purchase whichever provides longer warranty.

They will just ask for proof of purchase via email or fax and they will update the warranty information.
