I had a high computing HP laptop for a few years and i was very happy with it. I have and HP Envy now (2XXX ) and am unhappy with it. The reason? The heat on the bottom left side of the laptop is becoming unbearable.

If i have to buy another HP laptop it would have to be a high computing laptop. Either that or a Mac. Bye Bye Envy.

Meanwhile, i request other Envy owners to share their insights into how they are dealing with the heat being released by the Envy.

I have never had it get that hot. Perhaps your fan / heatsink is clogging. Have you blown air into the heatsink (while the machine is off and cool)? Have you checked to see if the air intake on the left side is blocked? When I run a game or something that will make the machine perform on high...I make sure that the air intake is not blocked by anything. The heat on the Sandy Bridge machines have never really plagued many people. Other question...when the machine starts to get warm...does the fan kick in? Is Coolsense on Performance, Coolest Mode or Off?

Mine gets pretty warm when gaming with the GPU overclocked, but not ubearably warm.

Always be mindful of where the fan intake is when you are using it on your lap or in bed. It doesn't take long for it to overheat if the intake is obstructed.

I find that even having the ENVY on a table top doesn't allow proper airflow. The rear rubber pads don't lift the fan intake high enough. I just purchased a Targa X-Stand and it really helps; plus I like the forward tilt it gives the keyboard. Best accessory purchase I've ever made.
