Anyone use the expansion base? I see they have two different versions, one with Harddrive and one without.

Was wondering about using the regular version and getting a portable harddrive.

If you can save some money, then yeah, I would definitely recommend going that route.

I have the xb3000 base. It's ok. I watch my movies on that when i'm home. It has decent speakers. You can buy the base w/o the hard drive at first. You have the option to buy it later. What you should do is buy a bigger internal HDD for your laptop since you only have a 60gb. I would get a 7200rpm 100gb or 200gb drive. You get a nice speed increase and more space of course. Then you can buy a decent external enclosure and use your current HDD as a portable HDD. This is exactly what i'm doing. Also since I'm going to be a father pretty soon, i'm going to save all my home videos on a larger external HDD. The hard drive that goes in the is the same as you can put in a desktop as far as size. I hope this helps.
