HP specs list Vista as the required operating system for this card. I'm assumming this also still works with XP on my DV600t (as it did when first introduced). Just want to make sure before I buy one. The web site doesn't mention XP at all anymore in the specs.

I would suggest you not get the HP internal express card TV Tuner. Instead get the Pinnacle or the Hauppauge external USB TV Tuner. Both will work with Vista or XP and they are cheaper and better than HP's express card.

Yes, it works fine on Vista. I tested it on a dv9000 with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 and it installs fine and works perfectly fine with XP Media Center.

The only major knock on this card is that HP puts out like 0 technical specs on the card. A lot of information has to be obtained through testing.

    OS Compatibility - XP, Vista
    ATSC Compatibility - 480p, 720p, 1080i
QAM Support - Yes, but only in tuners with model number ending in "-002"
    OEM Brand - Hauppauge HVR-1500
Supported applications (so far that I've found) - Windows Media Center (XP, Vista), WatchHDTV, Hauppauge WinTV, HP QuickPlay

Hope someone can help here: I recently purchased one of these kits brand new. Everything installed and is working fine except for the remote and IR receiver/dongle. It's not working although I can see it (receiver reponding with a flashing light when I point the remote at it and push the buttons.) The HW device manager is showing an error for it (BB + Dongle [e.d.]) and when I try to reinstall it, it cannot find the driver. Could it be because this is listed as compatible with Vista and I'm running XP? I did get an errors when initially the SW: something to the effect that it "could not be verified as compatible with XP"...continue anyway or halt?" This made sense to me though since it is sold as being Vista-compatible. Other than this it is working OK and I can see live TV using Media Player and the controls contained within it. I have re-tried with the included disc and the driver on the HP web site without success. Thanks in advance !

Additional info (see previous): The mini-remote that came with laptop
(dv-6000t) works fine: controls the channels, volume, etc. Forgot to include that...sorry.

    >>The mini-remote that came with laptop (dv-6000t) works fine:<<

That uses the IR port on the front of your laptop. The other one has to use the IR thing that you plug into your PC.

I suspect that it has something to do with the fact that I'm running XP and the kit is now advertised as compatible with Vista-only. The mini remote will change the channels, volume, etc. when pointed at the laptop receiver. The big remote isn't working with anything.

Another piece of info to pass along: when I installed it and set it up ithrough media center, all I got was about a dozen "antenna" channels (we don't have cable) and the picture quality was pretty bad. I just figured it was bad reception in my area. I decided to try installing WinTV (following the instuctions in another thread in here) and it found about 30 more channels including HD and digital. The picture on the best ones is fantastic! Not sure why these were not found in the the intial set-up with media center, but it doesn't really matter at this point since I'll be using WinTV to access the card.

If you are picking up HD channels they should either come in completely clear or not at all! Analog channels would be more like what you are talking about.

I didn't pick up any HD or Digital channels until I downloaded and installed WinTV and had it re-scan. WinTV found 25-30 digital channels in addition to the 12-15 analog channels. I have used Media Center several times to scan and it does not find the digital/HD channels. It's doesn't really matter though, since WinTV has all the same functions as Media Center.

I had everything working in XP on my DV9200, except the record feature of my Express Card. It is the Digital/Analog one, designed for Vista. I have been forced to use Vista ever since. Maybe it's fixed now, but ???

On mine, the record feature works with media center but still no luck with the remote and IR receiver/dongle. (Doesn't work with WinTV either.) Media center scans and finds the digital channels, it's just that the picture is bad, just like the analog channels (snow, static, etc). Start things up with WinTV and the digital channels are perfect: crystal clear. Very weird and I'm still thinking it's a XP vs. Vista issue with the card. It doesn't make sense that there would be backward compatibility for people with XP when you consider that there are thousands of people out there with that OS that might want to purchase this card.

Yea, I remember now. The remote and IR receiver/dongle didn't work no matter what I did. Really pissed me off, too. Everything else worked fine in XP with the correct drivers installed. The Digital/Analog TV card was totally jacked in XP, designed for Vista.

Re: <<<The Digital/Analog TV card was totally jacked in XP, designed for Vista.>>>

    " totally jacked in XP..."

Does this mean it worked with XP for you? I have XP and the card works perfect (clear video) with WinTV.... (analog, DT and HD). I'm getting poor video with both analog and the digital channels it found with Media Center....

no, jacked as in didn't ever work right in XP.
I have never had clear video with my analog signal in, but not much I know to do about that.

Same here, except the analog -and- digital channels were poor running the tuner card with Media Center or quick-play. Once I followed the steps in here to install WinTV, the digital channels come in perfectly clear.
