Anyone know because it seems you can add this option anytime after the laptop has been purchased if I am correct?

Also does the $100 justify the performance or should I just wait and get something better like those digital ones I keep hearing about & finally is the install as simple as adding in an external wireless NIC into a pci xpress slot on a laptop?

Once you see what HDTV looks like you won't care about analog-only cards. The tuner from http://www.autumnwave.com is my favorite but there are cheaper USB HDTV tuners out there. Of course, it helps if you can actually get an over-the-air DTV signal and/or unencrypted digital cable...
