My grandson's laptop won't boot or access the restore partition.
I can't find the drive in bios but it will run the tests in bios.
I put the drive in my desktop on a separate sata connector and it is recognized but not readable.

I installed win xp on it and put it back in the laptop, it will start to boot then quickly blue screens and then a black screen saying missing ntdlr.
The blue screen goes by too fast to read.

I used hirens boot disk and ran mini windows among others on the disk and it runs ok, just won't run off the hard drive. the drive is a seagate and test ok using the seagate diagnostic.
I also tried the remove battery and hold power key for 30 seconds.
Any suggestions or am I lookin at a failed main board?
