I believe you are talking about the Windows Sidebar...
Go to start menu, and search for "Sidebar", start it up. The clock gadget is there automatically by default. -
Turn on Windows Sidebar: Click the start button and type the word "sidebar" W/O the quotes. Hit Enter. If the sidebar is already on the right side of the screen, (you'll see the other gadgets on the sidebar) then you need to add the clock. Move the mouse over the upper portion of the sidebar and click on the "Plus" button to open the Gadget Gallery. Drag the clock from the gallery to the sidebar. Click OK or Close to close the Gallery. You can then hover your mouse over the clock and click on the "wrench" icon to choose the clock style of your choice.
I don't know for sure but HP might preload Google Desktop as well, and deactivate Windows Sidebar to promote Google's tools. That uses it's own sidebar/widget system and if your clock looks nothing like your friend's after checking out all of the different clock styles then that could be why. You can get Google Desktop here: http://desktop.google.com/en/ -
Wow thanks alot that worked!!!!
