I just want some quick confirmation, if possible.
As of this moment I've had to hook up my laptop to our secondary TV just so that I can type this.
What happened is the screen blinked then quit working. It occasionally blinks back on here and there, and I'm not sure if it's due to movement. My gut says that something isn't fully connected. The problem is that I have no idea why anything would be loose, if it is. I've tried updating the driver, though it's been up to date. I'm good about keeping in touch with updates.
Since it works when I hook it up to the TV, my first guess is that the video adapter works, but some kind of communication is lost between the laptop and the screen. When I tried hitting the button to duplicate the screens, it actually flashed on and off in varied degrees of brightness.
The one thing which may or may not be important is that the fan got pretty hot. It's been very hot in the house lately, and in spite of ensuring the vent is clear and even set on some sort of platform, the fan area gets very hot. Right now it's cooled off, since I rebooted and used compressed air to cool it down, yet no luck on the visual.
While it isn't a huge issue as of yet, I'd love to get it working since I need the mobility.

Oh yes. Also, when I start up, the screen displays the HP logo before splitting off to a black, blank screen. I have read about updating BIOS. Is thay correct?

Okay, for the past couple of days my problem was corrected after resetting the BIOS and then doing a system restore. However the problem came back, and now my screen only works if I go into any of the Safe Modes. Can someone please help me understand what the issue is?
Well, no one ever got back with me, but I had found out my issue had something to do with the integrated graphics chip that's soldered onto the motherboard. Since it was beyond my self-taught knowledge, I simply decided to spend the money on a new laptop. I'll buy a new motherboard for it one day and possibly use it for travel, when I don't want to risk my home laptop.Last edited: Dec 30, 2014
