    Hi,
My friend asked me to take a look at his G7000 and asked me to reformat it for him, but when I acess the HP system recovery manager it sits there at 12% for hours. Any tips on how I should do? It's running vista home premium

Maybe the Hd is fried. Years ago people used to do what was called a low level format for drives with damaged sectors. Usually if a drive has those types of issues it might be wiser to just drop a new drive in.
