Hi, and thanks in advance for anyone who takes the time to read this and respond. :)

Basically, I purchased an HP G70T directly from hp.com for my husband. I forgot to add the dedicated NVIDIA 256mb graphic card to my order. He's has the notebook for about a week now, and we're looking to see about getting the graphic card added to the notebook. I have contacted hp.com, but I'm getting conflicting answers. One technical support person emailed to say that a graphic card cannot be added after purchase. Another emailed me the link to the HP Parts Store, saying that I could purchase the graphic card there.

So, which is it? Can a dedicated graphic card be added to the HP G70T? Or would I have to send the laptop back as a return/exchange in order to get a G70T *with* the dedicated graphic card?

For the most part, as far as I know, most GPU's on laptops cannot be updated. I don't know if the G70t is different, but if I had to venture a guess, I would say that it is not possible. Of course, don't take that as 100% correct information.

Here is what I suggest that you do. Return the HP now (you have 21 days), and just re-order it with the updated graphics card. This would probably be the easiest thing.

By the way, welcome to the site!

    Hope this helps.

By the way, it MIGHT void your warranty if you bought the graphics card and installed it yourself. You might want to check that information and take that into consideration.

Yes, order a new one with the dedicated GPU. Then call to return the old one. This way they won't ask questions on why you're returning. Just say you wanted the GPU in it.

As far as I know, if you return it within the first 21 days, it is no questions asked anyways.
