    Hello guys!
I hv bought new HP G72 today and wanted to create an additional partition for my personal files. I found that HP is using Basic instaed of Dynamic, so I hv messed up a bit, but decided to keep original way of it. As i was restoring old look of partitions I found out that F11 Recovery mode dont work, after pressing F11 screen just blinks and Windows starts normaly. Is it because I hv messed up with partitions (didnt delete any) or is it a standard problem?
How will I b able to reinstall system in the future if needed?
Cld u also advice me what is the best way to split partitions in halfs without loosing HP pre installed ones?
    Cheers

Playing around with the partitions may have caused the F11 recovery mode to no longer function normally.

Since it seems that your recovery partition is still intact, I suggest that you create your own backup set of HP recovery discs through the Recovery Manager. In a sense, the discs will act just like the recovery partition.

    And welcome to NBR! :D

    Thank u very much :)
I hv created Recovery DVDs, pre insalled CyberLink recovery manager got option to delete recovery partition to free some space, is it worth doing it? Also, can any owner of this HP laptop cld use Partition Wizard and send me a screen shot (photo) of those partitions, hv shld they look like? I really appreciate that... What HP_TOOLS and SYSTEM partitions are for? Im concidering deleting all of them and create two: one for Win 7 and one for my Data. If I do that, will recovery disks still work?
    Thank you

You can get rid of the recovery partition now that you have made the recovery discs, if you want. It will free a few GB of hard disk space.

You also don't need the HP_TOOLS partition, but I suggest you keep it because it contains system diagnostic tools that you can use just in case something goes wrong.

The SYSTEM partition is required for Windows to boot, so leave that alone.
